The other day I heard Chewy say that there was a patch to fix the invisibility in halo1, but also didnt mess up the messages. Im too lazy to google anything right now, so could somebody give me a link? Thanks.

I mean messages by the text that appears informing you of joining players, quitting players, whining 6 year olds, and who killed who.
BTW, If the website doesnt include it, I could use a tutorial on how to install it.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Just get an ATI card if you really want that glassy looking camo

Unless you already have a kick-ass nVidia GeForce card.

I don't think dishing out 50-100 dollars on an ATI Radeon card JUST for the shimmery camo is worth it. And besides, you're not missing much, the shimmery camo is just shimmery camo. It doesn't affect gameplay, only eye-candy.

It's DXTweaker. Basically it emulates an ATI card so that the camo works.

I tried it once and it's too much of a hassle, and the camo doesn't work if you join a game through Xfire or the Gamespy client.

Wait, enlighten me here, when you say "hassle", does it mean that you have to turn it on everytime you want it enabled? 'Cause if that's also the case, I hate DXTweaker even mroe. =P

aka lino4

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

You can make a shortcut on the desktop or such that renders through DXTweaker upon startup.

And most ATI cards aren't worth the money. The Radeon X1950 XT, the only good card in that entire series, and it's $400.

Um... Its not that hard to do. Set a shortcut so instead of clicking on halo you click on that then click on halo in dxtweaker. Its sooo much better then the completely invisible invisibility. Dont knock it till youve seen the camo in action.

If you go to google and type in the name of the .dll file you can almost certainly find it on a .dll repository site. I have to go find .dll's all the time. It's easy to download them and just paste them into the system folder.

*Edited for spelling. Because I can't type before my second cup...*

Doing it that way will mess up the text. I tried that before.

It's not a problem with Halo, it's a problem with running the DXTweaker. Every time I try to open it, it gives me that error.

My camo is the WORST possible for me.
It isn't 3D at all and not glossy or shiny, so they're practically TOTALLY invisible.
If I like lean into my screen and pop my eye onto my lcd, I could just make out someone moving with camo...
Then again I have a -blam!- graphics card, so I guess I can't blame Nvidia.

BTW, it really really does affect gameplay, when I play matches I get extremely pissed off at people that can see invis from DP to SL on SW. Takes alot of strategy out, IMO if they can see invis, they shud have to use useff in matches.

Anyways enough about KW, dxtweaker is what you are talking about, although it doesnt work for everyone, including me.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Thats because it doesnt work concurrently with the disable alpha rendering patch.

I knew that would be the problem, meh, I can't play with the scope blur, atleast it would take 1 week or so to get used to.

I agree. People, it's called an "invisibility" for a reason. If you can see people using the camo, what's the point of them even wearing it? You can see them just as clearly as normal armor.

Except (for the last God damned time), it's not called "invisibility". It's called active camoflauge. It's not meant to make you invisible, it's meant to make you less noticeable. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, depending on what kind of GPU you have, but I still don't think they're just as easy to see without it, unless you've got a low-end graphics processor that makes them the most easily seen object in view.
