So what? Why does this prevent me installing the software update and playing Halo2 on my spanking new 360?
Or, more pertinently, how do I get around this without lugging my telly back across the house, and then returning it to its new home afterwards?

I know I've read articles on here specifically mentioning playing it in HD on a PC monitor, so what gives?

im not sure what the problem is here. Set it to Pal-60 mode, maybe? I play on a PAL console with a VGA cable in HD on a PC monitor with no problems.

I had it set to PAL-60 on my TV, but now I can't find any option to display in PAL-60. Not that it should make a difference, since it's being scaled to a different resolution before being sent to the VGA adapter.

EDIT: Found an answer:

Yes, I do have to carry a TV set across the length of the house, again, twice, just to play Halo 2. Who the designed this thing? I mean wtf, how stupid is that?

you can get a VGA - Component adaptor, generally used so folk can play Halo:CE at LAN parties on monitors.

but the quality is questionable.

it depends how old the TV is. If it can only display the picture in 50Hz, then superbouncing as you know it cant be done. There are specific PAL 50 superbounces, however.

If the TV is new, it doesn't matter that its PAL, as it can display in 60Hz [and henec the xbox can be set to PAL 60 mode] allowing 'regular' superbounces.
