Settle down, fanboys...

9.4...looks ugly, doesn't it? You were expecting a 10?

Sometimes games score a little lower when so much is expected of them due to the incredible amount of hype. That being said, 9.4 is a darn good score.

The only negatives to be found are in single player. I don't know about anyone else, but this calmed my nerves immensely. After all, 10-15 hours of campaign mode is a very small % of the Halo 2 experience. There were a couple things that stood out about the review that I agree with, and that ended up giving Halo 2 a less than 10 score. One of which is the plot, which is included in the following quote from Gamespot:

"Yet while it's hard to imagine a better setup for Halo 2's action than putting the fate of Earth's defense in your hands, the game turns out to have other intentions, and rather suddenly changes gears after just a few hours. Halo 2 gives up some of its focus from a storytelling standpoint, which becomes especially apparent once you finish the campaign. A great deal of attention is paid this time around not to the humans struggling for survival, but to the Covenant and what turns out to be a major political upheaval within their ranks. You spent the first game indiscriminately killing these fiends--yet now you're expected to be sympathetic to them and their hatred for humankind....Still, chances are you'll wish that the game spent less time telling you about the Covenant and more time telling you about the Master Chief, his trusty AI companion Cortana, and, well, the fate of Earth."

Like the reviewer said, I was one hoping for the game to center around the protection of earth, but by the sound of things, it ends up being a story of Covenant politics....*yawn*.

But really, who cares? Multiplayer and Live are where it's at, and Halo 2 is the best gaming community experience EVER. Thank you for that, Bungie.

You of course know this is one of many reviewers out there?

And everyone else is 9.7 or higher?

And that gamespot may be looking for attention? But of course you can argue that they didn't but then I can argue that this was a review done by one man.

That is true, it is kind of a let down that the game might lack in the MC story, but it is really about the gameplay more than anything.

They did a Metal Gear Solid 2 with Halo 2 by the sounds of it. Pliskin to Raiden (or whatever they called him....)
