Ya, ok, lets just say, that I'm fairly proficient at Halo, and that I don't doubt that theres many people that are better than me, yet it gets really annoying when you see those smug punks that can run their mouth like no other, and just end up being nobody. I'm trying to judge my skill to others, but frankly, no one has seemed to fit the bill, except for those I regularly play with up in Sacramento. Were not the best team players, we acknowledge that, but my friends that are at equal or better skill level as I, went to several tournaments where they got worked because their team work, they noted that, they dominated every person head to head, and were only beaten under the circumstances that these other groups had seriously better team work capabilities, and all around played better together. If so Do you guys really think your all that good at Halo, and have you had similar experiences. Keep in mind, I really don't think I'm the best halo player ever. This isn't about me, it whether or not you guys think kinda of the same, like Xbox live will broaden your horizons because you'll get to play bettr people. So whats your take? See you all on Halo 2... LOVE KISSES.

I thought i was good at halo until I played my friend andrew. I was always able to destroy my other friends, then I played him and it was just scary. I would be on the other side of blood gulch poking out from behind a rock and i would have a grenade land beside me and be shot 4 time in the head with a pistol before I could say "where are you?"

Ya, my thought exactly, not to brag, but landing a grenade in any place isn't that hard, and I'm sure you can do the same, but where do you draw the line at Hearsay, and actual skill? So I hear all these people who think they are so dominant, and I just don't know how to react. Are there that many people who are good, or do most of them just suck?

I can throw grenades like that too. I'm really wanting to play halo 2 over xbox live to find out if I am good, and my friend andrew is just a freak or If i'm actually terrible and hes average. Hes the only one I've played I can't beat (well i beat him twice out of 100) I almost always beat my friends but I haven't really played many people.

Hmm, a boast about his Halo skill with a thin disguise weaved out of a few modest words sprinkled over your little oratory. I smell a hypocrite in this thread.

The best way to stop the posers is to not be one. You're not scoring any points by saying "Y'know, I don't say I'm better than you, but I kinda' am." Really, you're hardly different than people spamming their exploits with zero shame like that. . . Otakum guy and whoever else it was.

What's my take? I'm good enough. . . . that's about it, and I'll take you up on those kisses. *wink*

Ya, I tried to expand my horizons on there, and it sucked, because some -blam!- wouldn't give up the host position, and I got completely dominated because the guy moved like 10 ft everytime I went to aim, the -blam!- lag was ridiculous, I hope Halo 2 will work way better on Live.

Dude, scipio, your a -blam!-... anyone can see how higly you hold yourself just because you congegated a bunch of words together to feel better about yourself. #1 I never said I was better that anyone else, and I haven't said "but I kinda am better". I covered my bases when I said I really don't know, so by being a poser, and not telling all of you that I'm that much better, I also wouldn't put up posts like you have. Just gloat in ones own intelligents, because your a nerd. And when you say, that the best way to stop posers, and not be one, is fairly irrelevant, because like I said I haven't claimed anything besides the fact that I'm alright at Halo, so you should probably suck your own dick, and figure out what a poser is. Your a nerd, go read up the defenition F@G.

Really it Doesn't matter to me... How does this sound... I suck at Halo. I don't care how big I sound to -blam!-s like scipio. My question was, that I did think I was fairly good, and I was just wondering if there was a lot of you out there LIKE ME who felt they haven't met many challenges. Not because I'm extremely good, but because many others out there are in my same situation, and not having a varied enough competition maybe, and really I do suck in all actuality. Thats my question. Do you all thing your good?

Well, it sounds to me like you are the one thinking YOU are great at Halo. But everyone who has dominated most people they play are proud of it, and its part of their game to play with confidence. i know it helps me if i play with confidence, trash talk a little. i play better, and it is an overall more competitive and satisfying experience for me, even if i am not the best or absolutely get owned.

Posts like these warm mi'heart. First of all, I congregated a bunch of words to, belittle you, expose the truth and, have an excuse to stay up this late and feel better about myself. You missed some very key points. The quotations I used were not actual quotes, but rather more of a paraphrasing of what you said for an intended effect.
Never said you were better?. . . hmm. . . I recall reading

"I've just seen very few people that match me/ us."

Not saying you're better than anybody, eh? I guess all the people who can't match you are actually as good or better than you are, but you just won because they got lagged out or had to leave midgame. Ah, that makes more sense now.
Really, you are talking about how good you are because your entire post is centered around your tournament play and you end by saying that you beat most people you encounter. . . by default that is claiming you're better than the people you have beaten.

You're next sentences should read like this

I covered my bases when I said I really don't know[segment of sentence omitted because of awkward nature, and it did not contribute to the sentence] [no comma] and by not telling all of you that I'm that much better. [replaced comma with a period or semicolon] I also wouldn't put up posts like you have. Just gloat in your [replaced "ones" with "your" to avoid change in subject] own intelligence [commas don't go before "because"] because you're a nerd.

Ah, that's much better. Now, my point was relevant because you were boasting; however, you did so in a very subdued manner. Furthermore, your post was irrelevant one because you didn't address why people shouldn't be "posers," but rather you spent the whole time talking about how you play well in tournaments. Obviously, you kept on repeating that you weren't the best, but it pays to read between the lines, friend. Your post was nothing but a disguised glorification of your exploits.

Oh no, insults! Now I've really been beaten because you used a negative metaphor against me. Oh, zorn, zorn! I have been slain! (cookies for anybody who understands my allusion). Maybe we should see what Webster has to say about posers. . . here we go

Main Entry: 2poser
Function: noun
Etymology: 1pose
: a person who poses

Main Entry: 1pose
Pronunciation: 'pOz
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): posed; pos·ing
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French poser, from (assumed) Vulgar Latin pausare, from Late Latin, to stop, rest, pause, from Latin pausa pause
transitive senses
. . .
2 : to affect an attitude or character usually to deceive or impress

Wait a second, you seemed to constantly hammer the point that you weren't the best in order to alter your character to appear as though you were a humble gamer with no intent upon impressing anybody. You attempted to "deceive" your readers in order to "impress" them with your humility and good perspective on your own talent. . . I think you should take a closer look at the definition of a poser, and you need to take a really close look at what you're saying.

That's twice I've caught you red handed in the act of hypocrisy.

. . . and by the way, you should have used "you're a nerd" because you're making a contraction of you and are instead of showing possession. Although, you would be right if you meant to talk about my "a nerd" . . . whatever an a-nerd might be; unfortunately, that wouldn't make much sense in context.

Here's the way I precieve judging your own worth in Halo...

If that's really what it's come down to...

Play online. Play alot.

While the best aren't there, and a good half the people you meet won't even know what "host" means, if the greater portion of your games result in wins, you don't suck. But you're no demi-god, either.

It's kind of like beating Helen Keller in ping pong. While you may be joyful in victory, it's not really something you want to use as a pickup line...

If the good Lord is unmerciful and you lose more often than not, you can safely say a little more practice is in order...

While it's not the most fool-proof way to go about determining your validity, it's better than playing rocket tag with your friends, winning, and developing an unfounded arrogance towards yourself...

Whatever, outmatched intellectually? I don't see how comparing wits in this forum is of any significance. Unlike you guys, I don't come on here to feel good about myself because I can write and intelligent post. And in my opinion, if you do come on here to make yourself feel better, then you are a -blam!-.

An intelligent post is used for contemplating many aspects of halo, etc, not using it as a bragging ground/ self-esteem enhancer masked by modest words, yet contradicting yourself all along, and then using INTELLIGENT tactics such as name calling to argue your point. good effort pal, but come back next time with a more thought out arguement. By the way, Scipio absolutely burned you.
