When somebody PM's me I usually delete it without reading it unless it is somebody of importance such as Mods or Bungie Staff members. When I delete them, the little envelope message still appears next to my name at the top of the screen. When I click on it is is the same post that I either read or deleted. Is it a delay or just some stupid little glitch.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Just some stupid little delay glitch.

This problem is minor. I would rather see efforts focused toward more worthwhile endeavors, such as deleting dead groups, and banning miscreants.

You shouldn't do that. Other people have important things to say too.

I think B.net is hosted on more than one server; whenever you pull a page it comes from one of many. So when you delete a PM the server you're on updates, but the others take a while to catch up, and you may get pages from them that say you still have a PM.

Yep, I always see it up there and check my PM's again, and it's always the same one I just read... Kinda annoying...

Put a Post-It note above the offending envelope, and take it off in seven minutes.

Viola! It will begone!

I like to call it Tango's Cure-All, for Man and Beast.

It's just a glitch. It happens to everyone. I don't think there's any way to solve it.

That's been going on for quite a long time now. You get used to it, especially when you get one P.M. per week.

Damn it, stop drooling on my shoes!

Ahem.

The issue in question is one of lag, in a manner of speaking. B.net is run across multiple servers. Sometimes it takes a little while for a change in the system, like reading or deleting a PM, to be registered on all of them.

Love the Redemption of Althalus reference. How long did it take to put that all together?
