and who knows you might be able to play with more than 16 on xbox live so we'll just have to see
Ever heard of buttefly.net? MS proposing a deal with them prior to Live launch? Anyways, I'm certain Xbox Live 3.0 will support dedicated servers exceeding 16 players. It's a requirement to remain competitive.
However, my original comment was on the Halo multiplayer style. Thankfully it's not as twitch as UT/Q3TA, but I don't find it satisfying. Now take a game like Ghost Recon, the guns are deceptively balanced, and as such gun skills comes into play.
I can easily prove this by challenging anyone here - I'll bring a suppressed, less-powerful M4 SOCOM - with minimal cover - and you might not find yourself at such an advantage as playing with the pistol in Halo vs, say, the AR, even in close quarters.
I think I've come to prefer military shooters - somewhat accurate recoil, muzzle flash a dead give-away, the unmistakable buzzing of an M60, etc. To me, there's just a big difference between Halo and GRIT's multiplayer that setting up squads, formulating tactics for CTF/Oddball/etc just doesn't improve the experience for me.
Maybe it's the fact that you have so many SPARTANs running around for no apparent reason whasoever. Heck, Red vs Blue summarily shows how little context Halo's multiplay has.
Again, I'm not trying to disuade anyone from trying out Halo's multiplayer. I just wanted to share my disappointment at the touted multiplayer aspect of my favorite game.
