i have to admit for me, a good sniper/shotgun combo is always good. you go up into the hills on the right or left and first whip out the shotgun so you can take anyone else out sniping. DON"T DIE!!! the sniper takes 2 minutes to come back. then, if your on the right cliff, get the oversheild and start sniping people out. It's so easy to rack out a killing spree to a killtacular. Also, make sure nobdy sneaks up on you. if they so, bust out the old shotgun and start blasting and straifing.......

There is only one problem with this staregy, it's getting from the base to the cliff. if someone starts shooting, unless your good at no scoping your sniper, your -blam!- outta luck

Do you mean CTF strategies?

Other game types also require team tactics, but CTF has a definite base of operations for both teams, so the routes used will be somewhat consistant throughout the game. You will want to switch up which routes you use, and change the timing of attacks, but you always spawn on one end, and will need to get to the other. If so, I will write more about whatever gametype in Blood Gultch.

Blood Gulch CTF strategy:

Park a tank (both is preferable...this works best with a buddy in the other tank) behind your base (doesn't matter which one) up against the canyon wall. Face the tank away from the rest of the map and swivel the turret around towards the rest of the map to help minimize getting sniped out of the cockpit.

Drive a Warthog into the front entrance of your base and park it there. This will cause players to either have to go up either of the side ramps or go in through the back entrance to get to the flag. This sets them up as easy targets for the tank(s). From there the tank(s) can cover the remaining 3 ways into your base (since you blocked the front).

No strategy is perfect (naturally) and there are ways around this. But you can add it anyway :).

What I do is get a sniper and a close range weapon, like shotgun, and I go into the tunnels in the cliff and snipe people out at bases and on the hills in the middle. One tunnel runs the whole length of the map, so you can run through it to the other side to kill people on both bases, and there is a large opening you can use to shoot people on the hills. Then, if you run out of sniper ammo, just run to one end of the tunnel and jump out to go to the base for more. You can't use this strategy forever, cause someone will come up there to kill you. However, if you can pump some shotgun shells into them before you die, it should give you another 30 seconds before they go up there again.

I usually, if you start with the ar and the pistol, go and trade the ar with the shotgun and go gim em' heLL.
