As far as I know, it's not allowed. People do it anyway.

Well, about that... I disagree with the reasons I was banned, but I understand them. Kind of like a moderator nuclear strike. It's not the same name, it's just that capital i and L look the same on bungie.net.

Having said that... you ruin my stealth! And why were you stalking me? But in all seriousness, I was following rules on the entire time. Please no threads about specific users. Especially me.

EDIT: Wow, that's a really old thread. It's funnier if you knew what I was saying, but I think you get the picture. Seriously, why were you stalking me?

I just wasn't willing to part with my name, although you still haven't answered my question...

To answer the original question, I suppose it's not allowed, but anymore stuff about me should probably go into PMs.

This was funny. Straight out of that thread. Before Evil Cam was a mod.

I feel so used... *looks at picture in sig*. That still needs a better caption.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

JAVA has his 24 name before his 2 name. I believe he made a second account to link his gamertag. I could be wrong, though.

Must you use actual names? Of all the things you speak of as being or becoming a "bannable offense," this deems the most viable of them all -- singling someone out. However, that's not what I think this should be. More realistically you should hopefully be getting warned by a mod, and this thread locked.

I am sure they are well-aware of the problem. The mods do the best they can, without you pointing out errors.

Maybe this ought to be moved to The Flood. Of course, I'm sure you already knew that.

EDIT: yes, perhaps it would be prudent to edit all incriminating evidence out of our posts. I do still have a right to prevent self-incrimination, right? Maybe that's Canada.

Imuri7y has a better version of that pic on Kitty Bucket. Might take a while to find, though.

Nah man, that's Papua New Guinea. As long as you have enough guns, you can prevent self-anything there.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

It's not allowed, but most of the time your assumption is incorrect. Accounts like Java21 are actually impersonations of well known members made by dedicated spammers to attempt to mess up our system. To my knowledge neither JAVA2 nor JAVA24, his original account, are permabanned.

So we're wary about alts because it's a very delicate subject, and that everyone and his mother uses them for ban evasion too makes it all the more difficult.

Why not simply make it illegal to impersonate any user, not just ninjas? That would simplify things.

Not saying this for the sake of debating with you, I promise, but what if someone completely innocent makes an account that just happens to be similar to another account? It happens all the time. Keep the amount of users in perspective -- it's like trying to come up with an original email account. Remember how if you don't have an original name, it asks you to put on numbers or something to make it work?

Nice thought, but it would be so chaotic and really not fair.

Not to mention that I would be breaking rules by impersonating myself. *considers linking to off-topic content* I think that all the common names are duplicates. Say someone really likes the name Spaulding. But it's already taken! Do you get banned for impersonation? Eh, bad example, but there's a lot of popular names that just get numbers on the end. That would be unfair to them.

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

I talked to a moderator about this before via IRC. For courtesy purposes I won't name the moderator or the member in question. This particular moderator said that a lot of people do it and as long as they don't abuse it (spam and cause trouble) then it's nothing to go out of the way to "fix".

It's not really impersonation if they:
A) Don't have the same avatar
B) Don't have the same sig.
The only way you should be able to tell them apart would be the member ID number. The higher the number, the more recent the member, therefore, whichever one has the higher number is the copycat.

by the way, i'm taking a break from the group, i have to go take a s'hit.

This isn't really much of a problem with JAVA persey, but there are plenty of members who do have like fifty billion accounts and use them all to spam.
The thing is, I've noticed the mods catching on, as a bunch of the new alts have been banned in five minutes of posting their first post.....the ones that are cleary that member that is.
