Hello:
I'm in need of advice on how to get past the gold elite covenant with swords. I'm playing solo in legendary mode and I keep getting my a** handed to me by those guys. I've just used the gravity lift to enter the T & R covenant ship with some marines (I've been through in co-op but want to conquer it solo).
Thank you!

Try to stick a plasma grenade on the gold elite--once they exit the door they sometimes stop and roar giving you enough time to do this.

Needler or sniper rifle works great too. Gotta be a good shot on the run though for the sniper rifle to work effectively. If it gets hot, running up the hallways to get out of the big room can help and then you can take them out piecemeal.

Yeah just open up on them ( i personally wouldn't use a needler because by the time they blow up you'll be dead)

That level gave me trouble the first time on legendary too. I've since gotten bettter, but here's what I did back then:

If you can't take the covenant in a straight fight, you can run into the corridors and take them at your own pace. Step out, shoot one, step back in, recharge shields, repeat. Just don't step so far out that the door can shut behind you, or it'll lock you out of the corridor. And if you use the side with the two doors linked, then you need to watch out for covenant spawning inside it. The trade off for this is that you have two spots to come out and snipe from. Keep as many guns insid ethe corridor as you can - since you can't run up to them, ammo can become a problem. The plasma pistol helps alot, since it has up to 500 shots if you don't overcharge. Don't use the overcharge.

i personally think the needler would work if you just pile shots on.

One of my best strategies is to hit them hard when they first enter the main area. As soon as you appear in the cove ship go to the covenent tank they have in there and stand on top, this gives you a good view of the area. The very moment the doors open I look for the first invisible elite and snipe him with one or two shots. Then try and take out the other elite in the same fashion.

Immediately stand in the middle of the room and watch your motion sensor. When you see red approaching a door area go over there and as SOON as the door begins to open lob two grenades in there and kill off whatever survived. Do this over and over and you won't have to worry about getting surrounded. If a few leak through your marines should keep them occupied until your ready to finish them off.

Once the hunters come out charge them and make sure you distract them from attacking your marines. That way you can spare as many lives as possible. Remember, Spartans were made for offense, not defense.
