I spent many mindless hours play halo 1 and I've heard that might not be a halo 2 for the pc.
Is this a truth or is it some some that the xbox players are saying just to piss me off?

I NEED TO KNOW.

I assume you meant to say Halo 2.
And yes, no one (especially xbox lamers) knows if there's going to be a PC version of Halo 2, only that Bungie has two options: Sell the Pc version and gets millions of dollars, or don't sell the Pc version and don't make millions of dollars. What would you do?
Some sources (magazines etc) say they have seen a PC beta version. Whether or not that's true, there's no good reason why they wouldn't make Halo 2 for PC, so don't worry. Sit tight and enjoy Halo and HaloCE, which incidentally the xbox lamers will never have.

I've upgraded so I'll be ready for it:

AMD 64 3200+ Clawhammer
1024MB 500MHz PC4000 DDR-RAM

All I have to do now is decide between a 6800 Ultra and x800 XT-PE. I'm in the mood to try something different so I might try the 6800 Ultra... after I sell my 9800XT that is. Easier said than done.

Yep, gotta agreed with Skippy there. Nobody knows "when" or "is" Halo 2 is coming to PC and not even the xbox fanboy extremist knows about it either, if they say it isn't coming to PC, they are dumb-blam!-.

BTW Skippy, for the video card, if you decided to get a Geforce 6800, get the ones made by BFG which offers not only a damn good card, but also a lifetime warrenty and 24/7 tech support. IF you decide to get the ATI x800XT or pro, I would stay away from Sapphire. I already had the 9800XT which burned out, I called Sapphire and they said it is because I overclocked the card and they won't replace it. Problem is, they didn't even look at the card at all let alone I haven't shipped it to them.

Yeah...I should probably buy a graphics card x.x
My comp can hardly run Halo as is (Built in "graphics" chip, 128mb DDR RAM)
I'm buying 512mb of RAM at Best Buy the day after Thanksgiving...might as well buy a graphics card :o

I heard x800 pro's were actually a bit lame compared to the rest of the field, so it really is between the 6800 ultra (BFG version, thnx Ekul1021) or the x800XT-PE (ATi's own version, not the sapphire - again, thnx).

What I know so far is that the x800 is faster and has some HD technology thing to make bump maps look better, but only supports pixel shader 2.0, against the 6800 which has slower clock speed but PS 3.0. Hmm. Come to think of it, am I stupid to want to upgrade a 9800XT? It's the overclocked Asus version, 420MHz GPU and 720MHZ RAM. I know it'll fit in a shuttle barebones aswell, as does the x800, but I've been told the 6800 doesn't. Kinda limits my options.

Heyyo,

But yeah, an 9800XT should run game still great, x800XT PE is for like people who want anti-aliasing on, and those other fancy settings, so I say keep your current card, and once new games come out that it doesn't give you the graphics you want? then go n' buy a newer vid card.

But if you did wanna buy a newer vid card, I'd go for a ATI x800 XT PE, cause those things are faster and cost less than the nvidia equivalent (the 6800 Ultra I think it's called).

Go to http://www.tomshardware.com/ and checkout those benchmarks on vga chart IV, cause the nvidia card only pulls faster frames on games optimized for nividia cards (such as Doom3)

Why do you 'doubt it's coming to PC'? You have no reason to doubt, so don't stir it up. Maybe your just one of these people who for some reason want it to be an xbox exclusive.

I believe he was referring to something else someone said...it was about the faq saying there were no plans for a halo 2 for pc...
of course, the faq also says:
Q

Does Halo 2 support Xbox Live or System Link cooperative play?

A

Bungie never announced Xbox Live or System Link cooperative play. Although we realize these would be cool features, they were not in our plan for the game's release on November 9th.

And, unless im very mistaken....yeah :P

theres no doubt that halo 2 will come out for PC. The first one's been such a great hit that it is simply irrestible to think of the chaos when Halo 2 is released. It will be a long time before that happens, perhaps mid 2005 because halo 2 JUST came out today for the XBOX, but hey...at least there should/will be one. I mean, you want profit or not? You want even more of that halo pride or not? I know the answer is YES so concluding, they will bring out a pc version of the critically acclaimed halo 2.

The X800 Pros aren't even that good, for 400 dollars you can get the 6800GT which is alot faster then the X800 Pros, but if you want a great card, then the X800XT is the way to go. I would have gotten it, but 500 dollars is too much. I have the 6800 GT and I've been playing every game at 1600x1200 including Doom 3, Far Cry, Halo and many more. But if you want the Greatest card, then just like what ThE_MarD said, go with the X800XT, the 6800 Ultra is like an overclock version of the 6800GT and isn't worth the 500 bucks at all, might as well get the 6800GT OC by BFG if you want a Nvidia card but for the best, the X800XT kills everything.
