anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

Hi, i thought i make a quick thread about how to more easily navigate and enjoy your time here on bungie.net and it's forums, based around current available extensions for the Firefox web browser. If you like to look through reams of pages on your lunch break / after school, some of these will make things much easier!

"Mile Wide Back"
by far and away the nicest of the lot; it boggles the mind why this wasn't somehow implemented in windows xp. try it out, and soon it'll become so second nature you'll want it everywhere! Browse backwards and forwards through threads with ease - pop in a realise its the same thing you've seen before, and pop right back out! :)

+ amazing!
- shame FFx needs to be in a maximised window for it to be effective.

"Image Zoom"
ever wondered what those theorists were talking about when they said "just zoom in and look at that little corner of bungie's uber-secret-hax picture and the halo 1 pistol is back!!1!" ? well, now you can be that person! Image Zoom is very simple to use if you have a mouse wheel, and lets you find all the finer details of an image.

+ really easy to use
+ no downsides!

"tabs open relative"
If you're like me and browse with a multitude of tabs through a multitude of threads / groups / whatever, try this. It basically ensures what tabs you open when looking at a page appear next to the tab your currently browsing. [for example, you've got 2 threads in New Mombasa open and you go to your favourite group, when you open any threads in the group, they appear next to the initial tab, not to the right of the New Mombasa threads. Genius!]

+ automatic
+ again no downsides!

"Full Fullscreen"
For when F12 just won't do... I realise IE7 has an excellent full screen function, but this combined with "milewideback" means you never have to see anything but bungie.net on your screen! Yay! :-)

+ easy to use, right click > select "Toggle Fullscreen". done!
- if you dont like full screen, this isnt for you!

"Open URL in new tab"
This one is amazing - for when all those forumites who dont make a lazy link just type out the url, you can highlight the text url and right click, and select "open url in new tab". I love it. try it now: www.bungie.net

+ very easy to use
+ no downsides!

"Foxy Tunes"
Like to listen to music whilst browsing the forums? Hate to keep going back to iTunes / Winamp / Windows Media Player just to click skip track? This is for you! FoxyTunes sits quietly next to the address bar for you to use whenever you see fit. You can move it down as a mini player and put it anywhere on the page, maybe to fill that void to the right of these forums?

+ very discreet, works with nearly all media players.
- if you already like your media set-up, this isn't for you!

That's all the extensions i can find to benefit your bungie experience, but there are more for general browsing:

"AdBlock"
if bungie had ads, we'd use this!
"No Script"
stops harmful Javascript from running - one click whitelists your websites you use.
"IE Tab"
for the occasional time media won't load in Firefox (hey, the webs not perfect!) this opens an Internet Explorer tab within Firefox :-) Nice!

If you don't have Firefox, or haven't upgraded to the latest version, click me! I don't work for Mozilla or anything, i just wanted to share my bungie.net experience with everyone else :-) enjoy!

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Thanks this made my browser a lot cooler >_>

Got anymore?

Because that would be immoral. Thanks for all those add-ons, I would never have found them myself. Have a muffin.

Why bother stealing something that's free to begin with?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

^Valid point...

I would use some of these, but I mainly use a laptop provided to me through my school. Of course, the jerks that they are, they restrict me from installing programs...

I used Firefox Portable, a FF browser constructed specificly for running on flash drives, for a while, but it grew cumbersome, as it's speed is slower since it is running from a USB drive.

If Bungie had pop ups, they wouldn't allow you to advertise it.

You have to reset Firefox to start any features.

Go into your add-ons list and check to see if they're disabled. Selecting each add-on will show 3 options: Preferences, Disable (or enable if you have yours disabled), and Uninstall. If it says enable, then go ahead and click enable.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

And your positive you have them installed?

Firefox is like a Mac, if it's not working right, it's your fault, not its.

Though pesonally the only way I have gotten WinXP to crash was by accidentily deleting a system file, so I don't know what the whole blue screen whiners are going on about....

Too cool addons dude! I'm going to get them the moment I get home.

They don't, that 's the problem. It says that they are not compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.1.

Well, then you must have a version of firefox more recent then the last updates of the add-ons. In that case, you just have to hope the developers will release updates. Now as to my problem... Where is fullscreen?

Full screen is either on F12 or right click - toggle fullscreen. simple as that :-) i have few more addons, but they are to do with downloading videos from youtube and im not sure whether bungie want me to advertise those :-/

as for the guy with the problem with the addons - make sure you've downloaded the lastest version of Firefox, and the latest version of the addon.. If that doesnt work, you're using safe mode. I cant think of anything else.

Thank you very much. While we're on the subject, I found an awesome add-on.

Cooliris Preview

See a thread? Not sure if it will be worth clicking the link? Hover your mouse over the topic link, move to the blue blob that appears to the right, and the link loads in a mini-window. You can then open that window in a new tab, pin the mini-window, or move your mouse out of the window to avoid the stupidity. It has changed the way I browse. Now I preview links without fear! I really recommend this one.

My WinXP Laptop never crashes, but it freezes regularly. It seems there is some cross-program coding between XP, VET anti virus, and an obscure virtual CD-rom program that causes it...

Anyway, has anyone else noticed how, when FF updates, all your custom settings are reset to default? I'd like to find a way to stop this, as I like my passwords to not be saved by default...
