I'm seriously starting to think achronos should start a Halo 3 Beta forum. Once all the beta testers start using Halo 3 Beta a lot of Beta information will be clogging the Halo 3 forum. maybe its own forum would be more appropriate. I guess Im anticipating that we will have some kind of user feedback forum/interface established between the beta testers and the bungie software developers. maybe it will be done via the 360 console, or maybe it wil be done via the web (this site or a seperate site). I would imagine some security will be required, dont want everything getting out (like bugs). Anyway, just a thought. How else will we keep Achronos gain fully employed.

Spartans don't die, they simply go to hell and regroup.

Sounds like a good idea, but would only beta players be allowed in on it? If so, the forum ninjas and Bungie staff would have to setup a usergroup for those players, and with a few thousand people, that would be very hard to do..

Like I said, i suspect a certain level of security would be required..to keep some information close hold...so I see it being a benefit to Bungie to have something set up that can give just beta testers access to game developers. As a side feature they could provide a forum for beta testers to talk amongst themselves outside of the normal community, so we dont leak anything that isnt suppose to get leaked.

Now this could be all wet...if Bungie intends to make everything public thats in the beta. But we would still need an interface to game develpers to input bugs found, user experience reports, etc.

Prognatus Archos

That sounds good. Either that or make chapter specifically for that.

I can see how the "Halo 3 Forum" cannot hold something like the beta project. [/sarcasm]

Sorry, I don't see how the Halo 3 beta will "clog up" the forum it's supposed to be in anymore than it'll "clog up" it's own dedicated forum. It'll only clog up the Halo 3 forum if it's off topic or spam, in which case that's why we're here.

Sorry, but I don't agree with trying to spread the chaos even thinner. It makes moderating a lot harder.

This is true. TGP, but also telling/posting a thread about the beta be considerd a leak, since not everyone will have the beta? This is my own view anyway, personally, I would just lock and ban those that post Beta information. Such as recordings, weapons, vehicles, and whatnot. But as I said, this is my own personal view.

We should also post nothing about halo 2 yet, theres bound to be one or two people without it still.

I take it I was a bit; unclear. I am just saying that there will be alot of people that do not have the beta. But that is not the point, my point is that, in my opinion, this would be considered leaking information due to the fact that the game will not actually be out. But yet a beta. Not to mention there will most likely be many spammers within these threads saying "Grr I hate you!!" or "*stabs and takes beta*", just stupid random crap. If you were to see the morning after the rule of three in the Halo 3 forum, you would know what I am talking about. The rule of three alone caused havoc among everyone in the forum. There was about two to three pages full of locked threads, just that morning alone. Imagine it with the halo 3 beta and spammers.

No. The beta is almost over and people don't really need to get hyped up about being in the beta. People don't need to cry over it either.

Almost over? Am I missing something? I thought it just started? Yes, I was just being a smartass, please, don't answer those. Now, what I was going to say, you and I both know Tru7th; that they don't need to cry over it, but they will; hell, they already are.

Like me. :(

Adding a Halo 3 Beta Forum would be pointless. The entire point of the public beta is for people to play it and discuss anything that may be wrong with it. Just because someone doesn't have the beta doesn't mean they can't contribute to discussion about it.

Im not proposing this to provide "yet another forum" and hence to spread the chaos thinner. obviously this Moderator has been in the Halo 3 forum..and yes it is utter chaos and anarchy in there...in fact its my understanding several moderators have mysteriously gone "missing" in there.

That aside. the proposal I make is exclusively intended for Beta testors to interface with the Software development community. This is NOT unusual in Beta testing, I used to be part of the Microsoft developers network when i did beta testing on MS Office products. We had bug reports to fill out and submit via email...that wa sbefore the internet was what it has become. This can now and probably is all be done via a webpage. Therein lies the motive for the post. This is not for every tom, dick and harry (though I realize the vast majority of the beta testers are in it purely for fun, and hence are tom, dick and harry), but intended exclusively for code writers to talk to players who are interested in discussing errors they think they found, if its repeatable, etc. In addition, beta testers could talk to other beta testers to see if theycan confirm the same bug...this is more of a tool than a place to go hang out, though that would be acceptable too, as access would be limited. I hope this clears up my post...Im sure there will be something like this..there has to be..or the Beta would be a total fraud.

Make a group.
Place link to group in sig.
Only allow Beta Testors (lol) to join group.
WIN!

Who makes a complete forum for less that 2 to 3 months?

  • 02.17.2007 5:33 AM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

It would probally clog up all the forums. There is also a Halo 3 forum where all of this kind of Beta stuff can be posted. Even if Achronos was going to make one, what would be so great about a forum that will end up getting deleted after the Beta is over with? It probaly wouldn'y work.

You say tomato; I say potato.

I think a halo 3 beta thread will suffice.

Unseal the Hushed Casket

I think a seperate forum would be a good idea. How hard is it todo to set up an extra forum that allows only beta gamertags entrance. It would be just to discuss ideas and problems of the gameplay.

They got one of those at Xbox.com. But they must have made some sort of spelling error because the title said something like Crackdown. Doesn't make sense to me.

Oh come on stosh...

By the time the beta comes out, they will probably still be talking about if the Pistol will coming back or some other topic that's been repeated 4324234 times.

Either a "Halo 3 beta" forum or an "X Button Forum", for God's sake.

The only downside is that eventually you have twenty forums, ten of which are virtually alike.
