After using a POS machine for some time, on a cruddy internet connection, I had gotten used to the lag I always experienced when playing Halo PC and other games.

So much so in fact, that leading became close to second nature.

Now I have a much better machine, and though I have been using it to play Halo online for a couple months now, I still can not get used to not leading my target with the sniper rifle or pistol or anything else.

Anyone else have this problem? It's really annoying to say the least, especially on Hang'em High with SRs.

There is no way to avoid the neccesity to lead in Halo PC, no matter how badass your rig is.

You might just need to lead less than you did before. Just keep trying and eventually you'll find the lead. Sometimes it takes a few shots to find it but when you do, don't forget it.

Yeah. Sometimes I become worse after I play a game where my ping is huge, and times when my ping is low, I lead so much it's laughable.

The worst is when the ping fluctuates from the 50s to the 300s, so there's no getting used to anything.

i hate leading, and it's hard to snipe when your used to high ping down to low ping.

Oh yeah, happens to me a lot. After playing alot of matches with 66-101 ping, when I finally decide to host a server (which means 0 ping), I just CANNOT do mid-air snipes, no scopes, and 3sk's as easily. Lag and leading is like a second nature to me as well. Heck, I even find myself leading in games like CS, Call of Duty, BF2, etc.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

You have to learn to fire test shots to find your lead. Usually the pistol will help you, as the ammo for it is plentiful. The Plasma Rifle is a good test shot as well.

The PR's a bit too slow though.

Couldn't say it any better.

As for Synthmilk, yeah, short end of the stick there. But it's sorta like un-learning how to compensate for major lag; the other way around.

^made no sense but whatever. ¬_¬

Gah.

And yes, I know I have to lead somewhat, but when it goes from an inch (or two) down to an 8th of an inch, well...

Time to re-program ye old wrist. But that will have to wait as I destroyed my Halo CD as personal punishment for messing up valentines day.

I was playing against someone named Synthmilk the other night and they were kicking ass. So if that was you, you get no sympathy.

Damn it, my cleverly disguized strategy to build a false sense of gaming superiority among members of The Maw is in shambles...

And yes, for the record, my name when playing Halo and any other game was, and always will be, Synthmilk.
