First of all, I would like to say that the addition is a great idea and I am glad it was added. What I wanted to discuss is the method in which that bar works, and the flaws with it.

As of now, you have really awkward search preferences. You can search Games, News, Forums, Authors, Support and All. What you get from forum searches is individual posts that have the words you mentioned.

The problem with this is that getting matched to words in a post makes it extremely difficult to find particular topics unless you know the exact name of that topic. It is also harder to find them due to the fact you cannot search individual forums or users at the same time to narrow the results. This makes you end up searching through pages and pages anyways, which is what a search bar is supposed to prevent.

I feel that a page dedicated to forum searches should be made with the following options employed to all searches unanimously rather than seperately.

Topic: [type]
Words to look for: [type a series of words you may remember from the post]
Author: [type]
Forum: [select forum from list]
- Underground
- Septagon
- Halo 3
- Mombasa
- Optimatch
- Maw
- Library
- Gallery
- News
- Voting Booth
- Classifieds
- Flood
- All

These options would greatly increase the search accuracy as well as make it easier on all members.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Good idea. That might actually work. I don't really the search bar only if I am looking for an idividual member, but now-a-days I don't really need to do that either. It would help alot if one of times where I am searching for something comes up.

The odd thing about the current search feature is that it seems like the results are the same thing 10 times in a row. That really needs to be clarified. Here is an example:

-I search "Disembodied Soul" under "all".
-The results read:

2 of those results rendered the same result (the ones in bold and ***). I also don't understand "rank". It always confuses me so I just ignore it.

I think It should show:

-Where the thread is located or if it is a profile or not.
-A short description.
-What post # it is in that thread.
-And the author of the thread/post.

So yes, the search engine should be modified.

Heh, I thought this might happen.

We get a new shiny new toy, immediately find things wrong with it, and come up with ways it could be better. It is the nature of Man, I suppose.

I agree with all suggested improvements.

I've also noticed, and this might just be me, that I can't perform searches right form the page like this..

If, right now, I type something in up there, and search, it seems to take a long time. I've never actually waited the full time, since it's so pain-staking, but it's much longer than if I click the "Search" text, and then search from this page..

Is that just me, or does that happen with other people as well? Also, I would love to see a specific forum search feature implemented..

Perhaps even the keywords AND authors.

Er, Zag, you did know that hitting enter to start a search from the box in the upper right simply refreshes the page?

It only displays the 999 most recent. Someone should fix that. I suggest upping it too 2401.

Why not all of them? Why should our search be so limited?

Well, people will always find something to be improved. At least the damn thing was finally implemented.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

The only problem I have had is when I type what I want to search for I have to click go. If I hit enter it asks me if I would like to delete the thread I was just looking at. Otherwise it works just fine for me.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

No kidding? I thought that refreshing the page was an annoyance. :/

The search feature works fine for me, but at the same time, I wouldn't be against some more filters to help sort things out.

Do not bash the search function, be glad it exists because it NEVER USED TO. So revel in the glory that is forum searching.

You really think that it can display that many posts?

There is no such program or being that is able to do that.

what I want is to have more then 999 results so that I can see how many times "Your mom" has been posted.
