Subject: B.net Jail? or Death Sentence?

I was just wondering how a moderator decides whether to lock a thread or just totally delete it. I do understand that only Master moderators have to power to delete, but what exactly warrants a complete and total expulsion from exsistance?

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

Total spam for one thing.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Actually all of us have the power to delete a thread but it is only used in very rare cases. Basically when it is way too bad to be allowed on the forums. Things that spew pure hate is one good example. Of course we could just edit the whole thing, lock it, and leave it. In the end it is in the moderators discretion to leave it or not.

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

They usually only delete threads on extreme conditions. I've heard they've been told to use the delete button as least as possible.

Oh, I see....the "delete button" is like the big red button on the president's desk that says FTW... Intresting.

is that the same button that shoots a dart at a map so he can easily decide where to attack next?

But anyways stuff like hate crimes, racist, and pronograpghy would be deletable stuff I think.

Don't forget my 'Welcome to Bungie Studios: *insert witty comment here*' thread.
Hmm, more on-topic, is it possible to return deleted threads to the forums?

Nope, once the thread is gone, its gone for good.

I dont understand that logic. To me, anything that is approaching the line should be deleted. Dont give the offender any glory of seeing his post with a red cross through it, just delete it.

Can't you also delete single posts? I remember a couple years ago when an old thread (that was very large) got messed up. Mods had to delete so many individual posts, that the page numbers got messed up with how many posts there actually were/which ones had been deleted/etc.

At least.. thats what I think happened.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

If they can delete threads, they can delete individual posts. Seeing as how threads and posts use the same ID system, and all. Although how the system separates threads and posts is beyond me.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Moderators lock threads to avoid confusion. So say a B.net member posts something about Grand Theft Auto in the H3 forum. If a B.net moderator deletes it the "anoymous" user that posted it earlier will come back and say, "Where is my damn Grand Theft Auto thread? Oh well, I will just re-post it." Then a moderator will have to come back and delete it again, over and over and over...

So instead moderators post the reason it is not a topic belonging there or if it is spam and then they lock it, leaving the author of the thread with a reason his thread was locked.

It is mainly to avoid confusion, I think.
