recently i had read the microsoft help for halo pc.i have nvidia geforce fx 5200.my game perfomance for halo is very slow.microsoft had given solutions such as to reduce specular effects which may improve gameplay perfomance and disabling shadows.yes that helped to some extent, the perfomance became more smooother. But when i removed my gforce card, the performance became smoothest, but at the cost of graphics as said by microsoft.but i cant keep on removing my graphic card in and out for halo.in case i wanna play another game i have to put it again. So does ne 1 of you have a solution for this, that how can gameplay be made more smoother with my nvidia fxgforce5200.

If you can break down your brick-wall of text, I'll try to read it.

Truth.

Off the top of my head, though, I would first look for any apps that might be taking up precious resources. Kill all resource intensive stuff, then try running Halo with the real GPU in safe mode. Also, make sure you've got enough RAM, especially RAM dedicated to the GPU itself. Then I would check, especially if the thing's custom, to see if the GPU isn't being bottlenecked by the CPU.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Read the part about "rendering paths" and specifically "-useFF"

I have an Nvidia FX 5500 and Halo stutters along on medium detail at 640 x 480.

'Fraid you out of luck , you'll need to upgrade get better performance.

Yes, and with your card, I suggest using pixel shaders 1.1. Halo will look a bit worse, but you'll have a significant increase in performance.

Me be confused..... somewhere in that brick wall of text, you mentioned actually taking out your video card? And after that, your performance went up? The only way for that to happen is if you have integrated graphics and a big graphics card running, and the integrated is fighting the 5500 you have. There's probably an option somewhere to turn off your integrated, if that's the case.

I probably just read your thread wrong.

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

Also are you using Vista? Nvidia's drivers are utter crap right now for Vista. They are still in the freaking beta stage.

I know Halo ran great on my card which is identical. After Vista it runs like crap.

So that might be another part of your problem too.
