Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

I just noticed this:

When I come to b.net's homepage, I saw for the last two times I did so today that the latest news stories I could see were last weeks Update, and the "Hail to the Chimp" article.

But both times when I logged in, the Halo 3 Beta FAQ story and the other stories since last week show up.

Is this a new feature that members get real time news and non-members have to wait a week to see it?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

The B.net homepage functions much the same way group pages function. News posts can be set to be viewed by different "security roles". Non-members, members, and other "groups" can be set to be able to view none, some, or all resources.

I think this is largely obvious in many topic url's...

take a look at these url ID's:

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9533
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9545
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9556

Now look at the ID's and their pages...

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9552
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9547
http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?cid=9557

In the later examples, it says:
Access Denied: You do not have permission to view this content item(s).
Your current security settings do not grant you permission to access this area...

This would help prove that different security roles exist, which can include guest (non-members), members, and mroe advanced roles (moderators, employees, site overlord, etc).

I figure most of these "restricted" urls are only visible to them.

Thanks for the info, but I guess it was just B.net acting up because now, I just came here again, I was able to see all the latest news articles while logged out.

Silly Bungie :)

blahoogana (bluh·hoo·gan·uh), noun - er, just call me Josh.

BP | B.me

It's kind of weird that Moderators can see more news than me...I wonder what those articles are?

It probably isn't news. Something on the lines of anouncements (or business related posts for employees and such).

This is, of course, relevent to if I'm right at all!
