1. Halo 2 Vista is not the only game that is using the Live system.
2. Future Support - As I said before, H2V isn't the only game that's using the Live system. What would it be more convenient for Bungie, have to do updates on multiple operating systems, or do one quick update. If we just say for a minute that they DID have to make seperate updates, which they wouldn't have to, you're saying they'd sarcrifice a huge amount of sales to make what would be a tiny code update, because they're lazy?
3. Better Resource Management - Hmm, I would think this would do a lot of a game, considering Halo 2 Vista will have custom, downloadable content.
4. Better Operating System - See 1, 2, 3, 5, 6
5. What are you trying to say here? "Higher end systems which will struggle more with Halo 2 on Vista than had it been on XP?" When was Halo 2 ever on XP? How would you know that? He said "Bungie will be able to take the advantage that they can design for higher ended systems" And is absolutly right...Hey, ever heard of DX10? Yeah, that's coming with Vista, why would Bungie make a game for XP, when people have cards that are DX10 that can only be used with Vista?
6. These are Vista's minimum system requirements
* A modern processor (at least 800MHz¹).
* 512 MB of system memory.
* A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable.
I've got a 5 year old computer that can run Halo PC, with an Nvidia TNT2 card, and a Intel Pentium 3 933mhz. This runs Halo decently too. I would not be surprised at all if you cold run Vista, you can run Halo 2. Now, it may not look the best, but I'm sure you'll be able to run it at a decent frame rate.
1. Do you have a point here? Seems not.
2. Basically all XP programs work fine on Vista, especially when compatibility is kept in mind. It'd be the SAME patch for XP and Vista. It'd work on both.
3. No, I don't see what your point is. What does downloading maps have to do with memory management, sorry?
4. You have no point here.
5. I meant DX10 not 7. Not sure why I said that. DX10 cards work *FINE* with any other OS, not just Vista. Not only that, Halo 2 does not use DX10, but DX9, available in XP. DX10 could have been part of XP if Microsoft had wanted it to be (IE7 anyone?). Also, it's not been on XP, but considering Vista is more resource hungry, it's an assumption that's 100% safe to make.
6. It probably won't run at a decent frame rate.
I think that's your argument demolished. :)
Personally I feel putting it on Vista wasn't what Bungie wanted, but rather what was forced upon them (a bit like everything that was forced upon Gearbox to make Halo PC a worse port than it should have been).
*sigh*
1. Ever think games that aren't going to be compatable with Window's XP will be using Live Anywhere? (Hmm, maybe a DX10 game?)
2. Not all programs that work on Window's XP work on Vista.
3. Maybe it has to do with something called "Live Anywhere"?
4. Go google it
5. You're right, DX10 could have been a patch in XP, but the fact is, it's not.
Now you have two choices..
A.) You can accept the fact that Halo 2 is not coming to XP, if it was Microsoft's little marketing gimmic or another reason, and you can enjoy the game.
or B.) Don't buy the game.
