Note the question mark in the thread title.

Whenever a new user joins our community, they go to Forums section, and automatically click The Underground. Why is that?

Perhaps they interpret "Discussions about anything and everything Bungie" as literally everything Bungie, which would include Halo. You think maybe the sub-title has something to do with so much spam there?

Or is it just because they don't use their brains, and just click the first Forum they see?

(reading the rules wouldn't hurt either)

yes

No. The Underground has magnetic attraction to mouse pointers. People don't realize they've clicked it until it's too late.

Yeah, must be too hard to go look down at another forum, or (gasp!) even scroll downwards!

EDIT: Or (gasp! 2.0), even read the sub-title.

Option 3: They intentionally spam the forum to piss people off.

Well, yeah, you pretty much nailed it, <insert topic creator's name here>. lt's the first one they see, and new users just click it. And by everything Bungie, l guess some people just assume that means Halo; which if you THINK about it, it kinda does.

It is the first forum. I guess it is too hard to scan down and see Halo 3 Forum.

I think that the problem spans from the lack of reading the Code of Conduct.

I think there should be a test that a new member has to fill out that is based on the code of conduct before they can finally finalize their account.

Heh, I've never read the Code of Conduct. The only rules I follow here are common sense.

Common sense is an oxymoron on B.net.

Anyway, I think The Flood should be moved to the top of the Forum List, just to send more spam there. The Floodians would probably get even more big-headed, though.

Heh... xD

Yeah, The Flood was never meant for intelligent people. I view The Flood as a slop-bucket at the corner of the Internet where all the creepy gnomes gather. But that might be a fun idea :D

It's never gonna happen, though.

I enjoy that gnome infested place. It actually stabalizes the rest of the forums to keep them more spam-free. You could call the Flood a sacrificial lamb, I guess.

Common sense is an oxymoron on B.net.

This is a nonsensical phrase.

a "Genius Pillage_Plunder" is an oxymoron.

Common sense here is a perversion of its actual meaning in the real world.

What on Earth are you talking about? An oxymoron is a phrase whose terms are mutually exclusive. Therefore, Common Sense (Sense which is Common) is an oxymoron on B.net, as Sense is most definitely not Common here.

To be honest, I've never read the Code of Conduct. Oh and you could just pull up another web page to copy off of.

>.>
<.<

But to be honest again, the Code of Conduct is just common sense. Also on the whole Underground topic, I believe the people are just stupid and don't have the common sense. It's not that they are trying to spam, they just don't have average IQ's.

Hey! That's not nice!

I'm a member of Bungie too!

This has always gotten to me, we could rearranage it somehow: Like putting the Halo 3 Forum up top.

Why is there so much spam in The Underground? Because everyone likes posting in the Halo forums, and hardly anyone posts about the other games. Take a glance at the right-hand side of your screen. There are seven main forums (imagine that): Underground, Septagon, Halo 3 Forum, New Mombasa, Optimatch, Maw and Library.

Five of them are Halo-related. One of them is devoted to other games. The Halo series is Bungie's biggest game series, and there's nothing else really to post about. The Septagon is always at least moderately active, but the Underground (an ironic name) has very little legitimate discussion.

Maybe we shoul go a little easier on the rules in The Underground. Say, allow threads about Halo (in general), technical suport and Red vs Blue.

I choose the latter.

It really annoys me when people post a Halo 3 topic in The Underground. Now, you may think, "Well, you just care too much", or "You need to calm down!". I do have valid reasoning for being annoyed.

When I first joined Bungie.net so many months ago, I read the code of conduct and the stickies. I read the rules, and got a feel for what to do and what not to do in the community. The few times I got the wrong forum, all the instances were miniscule things, compared to the common ones we see. Occasionally I would mix up The Underground and The Septagon. Or maybe, I'd get confused with something like the Halo novels, which fall into the grey area. They kind of rest halfway between The Underground and The Library/New Mombasa.

What annoys me so much when people post off-topic in The Underground is that I know they're just new members who got impulsive and refused to read the rules. They failed to do what I did, and it annoys me. I don't see it as "unfair", because they face the consequences of their ignorance, whereas I don't. But if I can take ten minutes out of my day to read the rules, I expect other people to do the same.

My thoughts exactly. But really, is it that difficult to take half a second to see what each Forum is for? I really don't understand this...

PS: I apologize for going off-topic. For the whole time I've been on B.net, I always thought your name was "madbutthalofan", not "mattbluhalofan". I just realized that now xD.
