Forum Tutorials --- WATCH THEM AND LEARN

This, uh, "plan" sound very similar to when bungie.net was updated to this three years ago. First the main site went cablam, and then hotness ensued. Then groups became hotnessed later.

I'm guessing around april 9-15 will be when the stuff happens, being the third anniversary of the new hotness. It appears to be on that schedual anyway.

I just hope that they can find a way to make groups fun again.

The Only thing I want is a Mass PM system, customizable backgrounds, and more people joining the groups. Cause out of the tens of thousand of users here at bungie, the largest group barely reached 2500.

Trust me, you don't want more than 100 active members.

You've had over 100 active members or you've just been to the flood?

I'm curious to see what content could be lost by the upgrade. They even mention forums are at risk.

I wonder how one would (from a member's perspective) go about backing those up and then restoring them.

Copy. And. Paste.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

How different will the site look, appearance wise, after the update? On a scale of 1-10, (1 being what it is now, 10 meaning that every single part of Bungie.net is changed) what would it rank?

My suggestion: Back up everything important ASAP.

I just finished backing up all the important info, threads, and news in my main groups. I wouldn't procrastinate on this at all, I'd get it done as soon as you possibly can.

Bungie.net will look completely different. Much of its layout and content systems will be different as well. The forums will function similarly (it is the same underlying code) but with a completely differently layout for post.

The site will also be way faster - there are only 5 style sheets, and it is not nearly as image heavy. It will use a lot more javascript this time around, to the point that you have to have it turned on for the site to work properly. Browser support will be IE 6/7, Firefox 1.5+, Opera 9+, and Safari should get in there too. But note that anything earlier than IE 6 will NOT work (not even IE 5.5).

Same here.

This sounds a lot like what happened to Xbox.com about a year and a bit ago. Looking forward to it.

The forums are pretty cute already so the new hawtness is going to be incredible.

The emphasis on the group work, at least I hope that's why it's going to have extended down time, is good. Right now it's basically the same as the public forum. Which is fine if you want to organize lans, so I hope there's more customizable options included in the update.

Anyways I'm excited.
