So, what are you gona name it. Like, "New New Hotness"?

Let us follow the rest of society. Post-New Hotness. Then we'll do Unprecedented Hotness. Then we'll do Post-Unprecedented Hotness. And so on.

I'm going to procrastinate about saving everything until it's too late. Wish me luck.

I kinda hope the look and feel goes back to how the old Column was, before the New Hawtness. Achronos says he is doing something special to make groups great again, as they were before the New hawtness, so Maybe it's a return to the oldskool, but with a little newschool thrown in to even it out. The New Oldskool?

We definitely need a good name for the new site :p *takes breath of fresh air* Yes, I can see direction again in these forums.

Also... Achronos, what do you mean when you tell us to back some of our stuff up? I know you mean data (I'm pretty sure), but what do we have to do with it?

Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

By backup I think he means save the stuff to your computer, like on word documents and such. Copy and paste should be all you need.

and please people, it spelled "New Hawtness" as in "I hope new hawtness attracts more hawt chicks for me and impurity to bother!"

11.

Bungie.net will look completely different. Much of its layout and content systems will be different as well. The forums will function similarly (it is the same underlying code) but with a completely differently layout for post.

The site will also be way faster - there are only 5 style sheets, and it is not nearly as image heavy. It will use a lot more javascript this time around, to the point that you have to have it turned on for the site to work properly. Browser support will be IE 6/7, Firefox 1.5+, Opera 9+, and Safari should get in there too. But note that anything earlier than IE 6 will NOT work (not even IE 5.5).
I have ME, does that mean I can still come to this site?

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Hooray for change :D

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

My vote for the name of the new site is New Hawtness 2: Electric Boogaloo.

I wonder if the time away from the chapters will cause even more traffic than usual on the main forums. People have to get their b.net fix somewhere after all. I don't see how it couldn't vastly increase the traffic, unless all the chapter goers simply stop logging in for awhile.

Achronos has been pretty forth coming about this, which is surprising. The Bungie.net Overlord actually telling us something about the progress towards the upgrade; and a bit about the secrets of new awesomeness too. Your breaking the mold here, and it makes me happy.

Less image heavy eh? I assume your talking about the navbar, and the little images that make up most everything. Hopefully, that will put a stop to the occasional cache and loading errors. I'm not a big fan of excessive java, but I trust the web team, so I think it will wow me when I finally get to see it.

I literally can't wait.

I hope so too. I hate it when my browser occasionally doesn't load a CSS file correctly. Looks like a kindergartener was playing Mr. Drag and Drop with the images. I am thrilled to experience an enhanced version of Bungie.net. I also can't wait to see what the new purpose for groups happens to be and how they will be like older chapters too.

Will we actually enjoy the new way of doing things?

Personally, I think this forum is very simple, and very easy to use.. It could use a bit more features, but I hope nothing is too complex. :D Of course, that's just my "I-Am-Scared-Of-Change" brain talking here.

Zee; it's Barwaii. Silly.

And it's only temporary. Just a really long temporary.

Frank O'Connor is a 12-year veteran of the videogame magazine industry and has therefore never worked an honest day in his life.

He answered the last scale....lets see about this one.

on a scale of 1-10 how long until the update.
1 being 2 weeks and 10 being 4 months.

I want to se the Activ-O-Meter and other Oldskool Chapter elements return in this update. Any word on this Achronos? It has been discussed, well over, a number of times, but never when an entire site, and chapter, overhaul was on the horizon. Please, enlighten us with what you are allowed, whats new on this horizon?

Well, for starters.. was "the new hotness" the official name of the current system we have now, or was it just a member-named thing? If it was member-named, then I'm sure something will come about when the new system comes.

But a large part is that groups have lost their purpose since Halo 2 was released, because groups were originally supposed to be used for organizing Halo LAN parties (and they were, to great effect). But they need a new purpose. Quite honestly, groups are not worth the time to work on unless we give them a new purpose.

I'm in a small network of groups that has a main focus of scheduling, developing and playing customs together. Basically we use them for their original purpose... Plus discussion and development.

For every minute I spend working on them, that's a minute I don't have to work on Halo 3 related stuff.
Why do they need to be done at the same time..? Why not update the site after Halo 3 is released, and get it all done at once? Unless you have important things to do after H3... z0MG Halo 4! D:

I suspect (but it is just a suspicion, I have no idea) that a method for non-members of a group to interact with the group (other than the guestbook), might be something beneficial and being looked into.

By allowing non-members to post some sort of communication (perhaps in the custom database) the ability to (as far as clans) make challenges would then be much easier. I can also see a benefit in HFCS (and likely other groups).

Some sort of security would need to be altered however. An ability to ignore or a "non-member blacklist" would be required to stop people who would abuse the non-member interaction.

Sorry for the double post.

This is a pretty good Idea, but I see few flaws, nobody would join the groups if they could just post there whenever they want, the security issue would easily be solved by adding a nonmember blacklist, but still, there is a large amount of groups out there and it wouldn't be utilized in every one.

My suggestion is that we make the forums of the group viewable to nonmembers, but they can't post in it. That way they can sample what the group is like before joining it and the security problem would be nullified. Also the group leaders may have the option of making it viewable to outside members and not viewable because some groups have councils(Like mine) That would like to control whose looking at their forums.
Basicly a guest system.

Oh I just got another Idea that goes with the previous. If you do make a guest system then at the bottom of the forum the Admin can view how many guests are looking at your forums and possibly how many members are viewing it too.

Things are looking good for 73h Uber Haw7ness Ex7reme 2.
