I can understand that Halo 2 Vista is potentially awaiting the release of Live Anywhere. That part makes sense. As for the lack of updates, information, or any sort of reference to the game in the past month has been extremely low. I don't even expect a release date, although at this time, they should have a close to definate answer of when it will be released.

How to solve this issue of people constanly awaiting information and updates? Give us a demo with one multiplayer map and one single player map.

We have already seen Halo 2 Vista in action in the CES Videos, so we know that multiplayer is up to par. As for the single player level, I'm sure that they have the game basically finished, so that shouldn't be an option either. Windows Vista has been released and should be increasingly more stable as time goes by, so the software requirement is there. I just don't see any negatives to releasing a demo in the next two weeks or so.

What are your thoughts on a demo for Halo 2 Vista?

There's no reason for one, demos are to show people what the game is like, everyone already knows what it's like (h2X). Once the initial sales are done, then a demo will be released to draw in more people.

Not to mention, this is like the thousandth thread on it, so it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

Exactly. Halo was on Xbox for years before making it to the PC, and they still made a trial for it.

I think the trial for H2V is coming, it's just not put together yet.

Well, a demo can be a good idea for people who want to see if they can run the game, (even if they just ignore the spec requirements...) They want to be able to see if they can get used to playing it.

The trial for Halo PC came out AFTER the game was released.

Quite a bit after, in fact.

Like aggy said, the demo cam eafter the release. A demow on't make money, it won't promote the product, and it wont help the game get out any faster.

You obviously haven't considered Battlefield 2...

Master Kim, don't listen to him, he only thinks about him self, and his team...
Any ways, Demos are a wast of time, and money.

Demo's aren't a waste of time or money, infact, they make you money. I know I wouldn't have gotten a few games if I hadn't played the demos.

I looked on Google and there were, in fact, over 10,000 people in total searching for an 'Halo 2 PC Demo'. That is 10,000 potential buyers for H2V. A lot of people buy gaming magazines to find information and demo's for games. So why is a H2V demo a waste of time?

Well Halo Trial was full of people who are too cheap enough to spend a few £s (or $s) on a PC game.
All the people there actually were never going to buy Halo PC, but stick with Halo Trial because they said it's fun so why spend more money.
The Halo Trial both made people by Halo PC and not by Halo PC.

I think Bungie saw that, because even today the Halo Trial lobby is still overfilled. Much more than the Halo Custom Edition lobby even.

I doubt Bungie will release another trial version, but then again I could be wrong.
But they know alot of people are looking forward to this, and not just because they dont have an Xbox, but because it's actually a better game than the Xbox version, with better and more polished graphics, completely modable (Custom Edition) and possibility of extra features, like Halo PC had (new maps).

Actually, about the "new maps". They could not appear at all. Because Halo PC only had new multiplayer maps because unlike the Xbox version, it supported 16 player online, which required for larger maps for a better variety.
Halo 2 Xbox already has 16 player online and a large variety of maps, so a new selection of maps for Vista probably won't appear.
My hunch is that an update will appear in a few months with new maps. Anyone remember Bungie announceing new Halo 2 Xbox multiplayer maps? Somewhere in Spring I think they said. Anyway, since we all know Microsoft release most things (especially Halo related) on Xbox much later on PC. So a few months after the Xbox maps are released, I'd say that we'll see the same maps appearing in an update for Halo 2 Vista.

Halo 1 was a technological feat for MS at the time. It also had sales nowhere near that of Halo 2.

I say no to a H2V demo simply because of the current state of drivers and people's reluctance to buy a game once they have a demo.

What it is.

^ i agree totally with the comment on the drivers...anyone with a 7900GT would know what i'm talking about.

That makes no sense... why should somebody with an ATI card not have a demo, because of somebody else's choice?

Zeph,

From what I saw in the multiplayer videos from CES the game was running damn smooth, so the drivers they had on those machines seemed to suffice. Now, granted, they probably had pretty high end systems with certain GPU's and beta video drivers, but thats not to say that in a few weeks new drivers will be released for certain Vista GPU compatability issues so everyone will be able to experience Halo 2 on Vista.

As for all the other posts, I do believe you bring up some good points. As for one more reason in favor of a demo, I think it would be beneficial to bungie mostly because of Halo PC's terrible net code. Many people who are interested in Halo 2 Vista, in my opinion, are gamers that have been playing Halo PC, but they want to make sure that this time the net code is optimized. A good way to show them this would be to have a demo.

As much as I would love to have a demo before the game comes out, I know this isn't very probable. A demo after a game is released is usually more helpful to the sales of it, but one can only hope.

Also, for the person who is saying that there have been many posts about a demo for this game, I would just like to say that I have been scanning this board daily and it has been a while since a decent discussion has existed about a demo for this game.

Keep it goin'

What it is.

as of right now ATI doesnt have their DX10 card out...and Nvidia does, the bad thing is, nVidia now only cares about the 8800 drivers, so all other generation gpu's are getting screwed with bugs...

And to the comment about the whole "why shouldnt ppl with ATI get a demo" it's not that whole deal, i mean i wish i had a demo, although myself have problems with drivers...
