yes, centripetal force is acceleration

Acceleration is - increase in speed, decrease in speed, change of direction, in other words, a change in velocity in all cases.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Is the fly still on the disc? If yes, the fly will be dead. If no, then it depends totally on wehter or not the fly is accellerating. Not enough Info either way.

The fly runs under the optical reader in your CD player, it starts on fire, explodes, thereby ruining your boombox.

Suppose a fly lands on a compact disc. The disc is placed in a cd player and is begun to play. Is the fly accelerating?

Yes, the fly is accelerating, but not in relation to the disc. If the fly were to jump, he would smash into the side of the case.
