Does anybody know if Halo: CE for the PC can be played with the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows? I'm considering buying Halo: CE if I can use a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse. For those of you who don't know about the controller, here it is:

If you want to get horribly owned, then sure, go ahead and use a controller.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Yes, it works. No, you won't get owned if you are good enough with it.

If you are good with it. Right. Seriously, you're better off with a mouse and keyboard.

Next time, please use the search bar. There's tons of threads on this exact same topic.

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

There is one thing though. You can't adjust the deadzone. So it has a habit of having your guy move even if you have the stick centered due to the play in the stick.

So be warned. However I use the 360 controller and do pretty damn decent. So you can use it and not be totally destroyed.

To be fair, there are indeed some players who are actually quite proficient with the controller. But the vast majority of them are likely to get owned.

Mice and keyboards > Gamepads.

I agree there Kim, however; proficiency and skill are two different concepts.

How true.

Controllers make it so that players have little room for improvement. Mice and keyboards, however, let players reach higher levels of skill than they normally would have with a gamepad. There is no limit to what the mouse and keyboard can achieve in contrast to what a controller can offer.

Not really, I heard it just takes some time to get used to. Node uses a gamepad from time-to-time and I don't see any difference in his performance.

I have a wired 360 controller and I downloaded the software needed to use it on Windows, but when I'm on Halo: CE how do I get the controller to work? I went to Settings and I can't go right to switch from Mouse/Keyboard to gamepads... I also checked on my Control Panel and the controller is installed.

Is the controller enabled under Devices in Halo?
