You can see all the information you need on the halo movie by using the search button. As previously posted information never really seems to leap from other threads in to yours; strange that isnt it?

Search Button - Its really cool, you should try it!

Here is the issue:

Microsoft backs this movie fully but also has chosen to go with the HD DVD as their DVD product backing. Sony couldn't care less about the movie but does not exactly enjoy supporting Microsoft and has chosen to go with Blu-Ray as their DVD product support.

So what happens when the movie comes out? Sony isn't going to pay for a product with a Microsoft stamp all over it and has expressed these concerns to both Fox and Universal (both of whom enjoy Sony's money).

So as it stands in combination with the fact that the original screenplay absolutely blew and had to be rewritten, this is going be a long struggle to decide which media format comes out on top, and Halo just happened to be the bullet in the chamber when the trigger was pulled.

Its the next VHS vs. Beta Max. Don't expect that 2008 release date to stand. Just enjoy the Simpsons movie and the new Fantastic Four.

Please note Postponed; not canned (yet)

Other information that maybe relevent to whom may pick it up?

1. Sony, whose PlayStation is a direct competitor to Xbox, was never a possibility;
2. Microsoft's rivalry with Apple made Disney a difficult fit, because Apple CEO Steve Jobs is the company's largest individual shareholder and a Disney board member.
3. New Line is still engaged in a dispute with Halo producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh over "The Lord of the Rings" proceeds.
4. Warner Bros. and its financing partners are coming off a tough year, and they've so far balked at the deal terms proposed by the Halo, team, adds the trade.
5. The Universal/Fox deal gave the movie a $128 million budget. Microsoft and the producers would have received 19% of the gross.

Prep work was halted at Jackson's Weta studios in New Zealand back in November/December but it will get another rewrite by Josh Olson.

Which doors are left to knock on?

guillermo del toro?

Hope not >_>.

Its been postponed, because the studios bought the exclusive rights but left microsoft/bungie with creative control (i think), then realised theyd have to spend an ungodly amount of money on it, just for it to bomb. Sure, its halo, but its still a video game movie, half of the market would just pirate it anyway.

So yeah, its probably gone.
