I'm there but, man this is really starting to sound like communism.
Long live the MAW.

of course the first requirement would be to get the new Vista Operating System (OS)
otherwise, Bungie/Hired Gun hasn't released any notes on what the current requirements are for H2V. since it is still in the making, any new effect or texture might change what the requirements might be.
Nice comp though :P

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

The requirements arent out yet, so we can just estimate, but your rig looks like it will probably be able to play the game at med-high details.

Hey guys. You probably don't know me, but that's just fine!

So, I was just wondering about what the requirements would be to run Halo 2 PC on my PC.

My Current Hardware (note: I am not that good with PCs, I hope to be in the future):

Intel Pentium 4 2.80GHz
1.00 GB DDR2 Memory (RAM)
GeForce 6600 256MB GDDR2

Nobody knows, because Bungie is too focused on their "bigger" game, and has completely lefted us PC gamers in the dust.

Got Halo questions? You found the answers.
<3 the DMR

i have:
Athalon AMD 64-bit 3.4ghz processor
Geforce 6600... i think
total 1.446 gb DDR2 RAM

bungie does not hate PC gamers... we bring the life into halo with pimpin stuff, and bungie can make it look beter cause pc's have beter resolution...

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Go to microsoft's website and do their "ready for Vista?" thing, if your PC can run Vista Ultimate, H2V should run just fine on your machine.

im afraid im gonna have to confiscate your testicles.

What are you, the Cyber police? lol.

Well... yeah its going to have to be for Vista, but I looked over Halo 2 Vista FAQ, and (kind of hopeful about this) they didnt say anything about not having plans for H2PC to run on something other than vista, though sorry, mac users will not be able to play H2PC, im guessing XP users may be able to play it on their XP. (Yay!)

Depending on how pretty you want the game to run, you'll either need Solaris 10 (Sun Operating System) or a version of Red Hat Linux from within the past two years. Solaris will make it the prettiest.

I'd suggest an upgrade. You might get away with running it at a low resolution with no special features (AA/AF). I'd suggest an upgrade to a Core 2, 2GB of ram, and of course Vista. Any GeForce 7 Series card over the 7600GT (including it and up) and then any x1k series from the x1900GT up (stock, at least, when us Custom mappers start pushing things you'll need a bit more. ;) ), will run it perfectly fine with pretties.

If you are going to upgrade I'd suggest waiting. Since new hardware will release and then be outdated in a matter of weeks its best to always wait. If you wait until Microsoft/Bungie give a definite release date anything current on the market will play the game at any settings perfectly with more FPS then you can handle.

You need the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. For best performance, you also need an Intel Dual-Core Processor, which handles Vista and its tons of peripheral processes with more speed and effeciency than a single-core processor, so it should be very capable of running H2 PC. Beyond that, there's not too much special hardware that you really need.

Correction Save Ferris... You need a Intel Core 2 Duo processor (If you go Intel that is). ;)

And not much special hardware? Ever heard of a graphics card? Those things are somewhat handy when playing games. >_>

You should actually try reading the FAQ next time.

Basically: Look at any new game that has came out within the past year. Look at their requirements, and you should be fine for Halo 2 Vista.

Because vista is such a memory hog, you better think about upgrading to at least 2GB of ram. And unless you get a new 8800 card, you won't be able to take advantage of the dx10. so you prolly won't be able to run the high settings.

Halo 2 Vista is only Direct X 9. Thats good because you can have a Direct x 9 card. Though if you have a DX10 card along with this updated Revision of Direct X you could be looking at some serious FPS in Halo2Vista.

I own a Evga 7800 GT. There is no reason to upgrade. Unless I want to play at 1920x1200+. I wish MIcrosoft would Let it go higher.

By the way, Bungie just has their name on this. Microsoft is the one doing all the coding and will release the specs soon enough.

worng the number one reason y u cant play H2V is cause of the gamerscore that u will be able to unlock for those people with 360s like me cause if u have a 360 u have a gamercard.and if u dont have a 360 but have vista they will have live anywhere for u vista people like me lol and so ur gamerscore will be on ur vista running pc and so that is the reason u cant play it on xp or g@yass mac unless they make different verisons of it

Is Solaris or Linux stable? are they stand alone operating systems? Is there a recommended physical memory size of Vista?...
