That's right ;)
I play halo on xbox and it OWNS !
I can't imagine myself playing it on pc :P
Also, the graphics are better on xbox, all the xbox's are the same, but the quality of Combat Evolved depends on your PC ;)
that sucks !

I mainly play it on PC, and when I upgrade, I'll be able to do single on it too. Mainly I play on PC because I can play online, and I've completed the Xbox one so many times I just don't go on it that much. It's stil good though, and I doubt anyone would say either version was bad, purely because it is Halo.

Xbox one...enough said. I've played the PC one and you need to have a massive computer just to get it to run. I'll stick with the Xbox...

I agree with this statement, I have a very new laptop (IBM T40) with great specs and it still runs slow in games with over 6 people.... That is crap. With LIVE support for Halo2, all I can say is wow, its gonna rule.

This is a great topic for me...

First off I can't imagine PC beating the Box. With that said, I would like to try online play with Halo PC. I have a powerful computer. In all specs I surpase the minimum requirements save one, video memory. My machine has only 16MB video memory.

My question to you all is this - can I run Halo PC with only 16MB?

Thanks

for anyone who thinks that xbox looks better than pc is just funny to ME. Halo on pc looks freakin awesome, way better than xbox, ofcoure i do have a x800 pro oced about 150mhz. 1600x1200 is now owned.

  • 05.27.2004 1:07 PM PDT

16MB? Wow. You need AT LEAST 32MB with Hardware T&L.

After seeing the Halo PC graphics I thought to myself, "The Xbox graphics are way better."
Halo Xbox is the real deal anyways.

I think this would depend on the TV you have, and the cableing from the xbox to the tv. If you have seen halo on a 52" High Def TV with good cable, you might disagree. Plus most people can't afford the kind of video card and PC you may own, and without a T1 or better connection to the web you will get lag. I will say this, I bought a USB converter cable for xbox controllers, and that did make the Halo PC experiance much better for me. Playing with the Banshee in Blood gulch is soooo much fun. The rocket hog is cool too.

What is T&L?

Sorry for my ignorance.

It most likely runs poorly because the video hardware of your laptop is just at or below the minimum specs (most expensive T40 has 32MB ATi Radeon 7500, which is right at minimum requirements.). Finding a laptop that will play taxing 3d games is pretty difficult. Dell has a few models that are decent, but the best laptops for gaming are either Alienware (price is outrageous though) or Sager. My Sager laptop (5670) is about a year old but has 128MB ATi Radeon 9000, though Sager's current models sport a 128MB ATi Radeon 9700. They're well priced also, with some very good systems coming in at under $1800.

The fact that HALO PC has a min. of 32MB video card is quite a bummer.... My T40 does have the radeon 7500, and during E3 I played a 3d game called Guild Wars, ran fast and smooth, no problems. There really is no reason for HALO PC to have these high requirements besides the fact that it is trying to look as good as the xbox... Anyways... I still like xbox better, even when using the xbox controller on the PC version, and that was the original thread on this topic.
peace

I play on PC, mostly because I don't have an XBox. If I had an XBox...I would still play it on PC. This is because my machine runs it really well (I just have crappy internet), plus you get the banshee, rocket launcher warthog, the flamethrower, the fuel rod gun, and new levels.

Because of these things I believe Bungie would of been wise to release a HALO 1.5 with LIVE support last year until HALO 2 came out, I would of been first in line to buy one... as a matter of fact, i am gonna start a poll on that very subject.

Halo PC is better for the following reasons:
1) Graphics are vastly superior. If you don't think so, that means your PC is ****, and that's your fault not Halo-PC's fault.
2) Multiplayer is far more enjoyable. 16 players over internet, and a standard broadband (same speed as xbox live) is perfectly capable of making a lag-free game. You can fly banshees, rocket-warthogs, and fire flamethrowers and fuel rod guns. As for the range of new maps... you Need to play Death Island, imagine Silent Cartographer with unlimited access. And banshees.... tanks... nice.
3) Adjustable controls. You can assign any control to any action in Halo PC. This means your mouse can do primary fire, scopes, melees, grenades, reloads, weapon switches... whatever feels best for you.
4) I'd just like to say, for those who think xbox Halo is the 'real deal', 'genuine article' and so on, Halo was designed for PC several years ago, then it was ported to xbox to boost sales. So Halo PC is the daddy, in every way.

Edit: Just in case anyone's thinking "I bet he's never even played Halo xbox", I own both of them. I had xbox Halo first, and completed it, then got the PC version when it came out, for the better multiplayer experience. So I know what I'm talking about.

I've played both. I played Halo PC on my friend's computer. It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel like the Xbox version. I mean visually it lacked. My friend has a pretty decent PC too. But if you tried to turn the specs up to their highest then it would lag a bit. When the specs were turned up though, it still didn't look like Halo(especially the shields and teleporters). I played a few 16 player battles. It was fun, but nothing extroardinary like LAN parties. Plus the people I played with weren't that good, better then me but mainly because I wasn't used to the controls. It just felt like a weaker version of Halo. :-(

Um, didn't Gearbox port Halo Xbox to the PC? Wouldn't that make Xbox's version first and it the Daddy? Yes, it was going to be published on PC first. But it wasn't. It was also going to be a RTS. But it didn't end up being that either. The whole game wasn't finished at that time anyways. Halo came out on the Xbox first, not the PC. The daddy comes before the baby doesn't it?
