Why don't people make it a goal to upgrade every year? That would solve a lot of these problems, and keep people from spending too much at a time.
LOL ARE YOU CRAZY!? You have to be more rich than Bill gates to upgrade every year (computer wise).

Vista comes with new graphics right? Im getting Vista in August, and if it does have new graphics then I wont have to get a new card.

Aww... : (. Mine is Bad Graphics, slightly better. I WANT BETTER GRAPHICS!

My graphics is insanely horrible ha. GeForce2 MX is still pretty good considering my Dell puffed and now I'm using a kick-ass Compaq Presario manufactured in 1997 xD

Vista doesn't come with graphics, but it does come with a new API, that's slightly different.

I didn't know it could get worse than -useff. I thought that was the absolute worst. Well it doesn' t matter since I no longer have to experience that anymore.

UseFF isnt the worst. Use00 is. No armor color, no textures, nothing. Its horrible. With me, I run the AGP version of a Radeon X1600 Pro. So I get the glassy camo, cept of course when I disable scope blur. I'm kinda torn between keeping scope blur enabled or disabled, specifically since when its disabled, I get the faded simple camo which is insanely hard for me to spot. When scope blur is on, I get the liquid camo which for me is easier to spot.

Get a job, work hard, pinch your God damned pennies and you'll have more than enough to upgrade every year. You don't need to be rich, or have a good job, either. Those two certainly help, though.

Get a Radeon X1600 Pro or better. I hear the X1650 came out recently, so thats a good one. I prefer ATI cards over (high end) GeForce Cards simply because they come with the liquidy refractive camo. I cant see faded camo worth crap. I bought the Radeon X1600 Pro at around the price of somwhere between 170 and 270 bucks...can't remember the exact price but I know it was somewhere between that. The price may have dropped since the release of newer, better cards...but that is a good one. Comes in both AGP and PCI-E versions. I use AGP since I have an older motherboard, but if you have a new motherboard with PCI-E slots, go for that. Youll get much better framerate along with killer graphics.

DC Spartan, while the 9600 supports every effect, it wont run halo that well compared to what a good card can do(think above an x1600 or a 6600gt). Dont waste money buying technology thats almost 4 years old based on architecture even older..

They wont run Halo as well??? What do you mean? It will go slower? Oh my god I hope not. I still want to have good graphics and still be able to play too! 8^(

got milk12:
Im going to have... good graphics soon! : ). Or great. Im not sure.

BTW I do not see any difference when it comes between Decent graphics good graphics and the great graphics links. I really dont.

It will be better than what you have now, but you're not going to be able to run it with "good" graphics at a good framerate and resolution. You might get a tolerable framerate. If you're willing to spend an extra $27, this card will run Halo quite a bit better than the 9600 PRO.

Also, the first picture is at 1152 x 864 with Shader model 1.4, the second picture is at 1280 x 1024 with Shader model 2.0 (although I'm not sure 2.0 shaders make a difference for those particular textures), and the third picture is the same as the second picture except with 16x antistropic filtering (all three pictures are with all video settings on high).

With my video card overclocked (7900 GS), I can play with "great graphics" and rarely drop below 60 FPS.

Horray for wasting system resources on excessive resolution. With me...as long as it looks decent then I'm fine. If I had an extremely fast computer, I would use high res with full graphics; but until then, I'm content with 800x600 resolution with the no scope blur (DisableAlphaRenderTargets) config and having extra stuff like specular, shadows, and decals off.

I-rein has the same kind of settings I have for myself, cept I think a slightly higher res, and it still looks good.
