Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

This is the 1st post I've been able to make for aboute 2 weeks now. Whenever I tried to go to bungie.net, my pc kept loading the same page over and over again (the link to signing into windows live id) and eventually a box came up explaining "windows could not sign in windows live id to this sight for one of the following reasons... A: this website is not a member of windows live id. B: This site is experiencing problems. I don't how or why I couldn't get on to b.net. My theory is as follows...
I have 2 PCs at my house. I was on b.net with one of them, had to let my dad do something on that one, he minimized it, I went to my other computer, logged into b.net there, posted some stuff, logged off, went back to the 1st computer, posted some more stuff, and then changed my settings so that "windows would automaticly remember my password and name" makeing it so I would automaticly sign in to b.net. So then I was signed in but also not sighned in. Than that scrood everything up and I couldn't get on ever since. I couldn't get to the b.net help page, contact page, or anything because in order to get to any page of b.net, I would have had to sign in to windows live ID wich I couldn't do. I finally solved the problem by logging on to my windows live ID at msn messenger.com.
My point is, there should be a bungie help and or contact sight that people can reach if they have a problem like mine. A sight that is in no way connected to b.net. If, for whatever reason someone can't get to any page on b.net (their internet explorer settings blocked it, thier parents blocked it, thier computer has some broblem with it, ect), they could still have some contact or help from bungie. The only way I could even see the update was at halo.bungie.org. If this or something similar has happend to any one else or you just agree with me, say so.

Anytime you ever get a problem like that, bnetbugs@microsoft.com is the best place to go. Also, login problems can often be taken care of by clearing all your cookies and then restarting your browser (close all its windows).

And, for the record - don't ever select "Save my password". That's dangerous, and I'd remove that option if I could.

Maybe we could suggest changing it to, "steal my password, please!"?

Maybe that would raise awareness.

Are you kidding? I'd click just so I could go punch someone for stealing it. "Toldja!"

Dangerous if it's a public computer. I do it and I am the only one on the computer in my room. It's the only computer I sign in on. Anyways maybe people should just learn whats safe and whats not. Saving your data on a computer that anyone can access is bad, Saving data on a computer only you can access is not so bad. At least to my knowledge.

What, exactly, is your basis in the fear of that feature? Does it somehow open your password up to stolers who would steal the specific cookie that that option sets, or do you mean that others can get on your computer and change your Live ID password because it automatically logs in?

And, to the OP, that sometimes happens to me. Clear your cookies and you'll be fine.
