I use DXTweaker on my Nvidia Geforce 7900 GT because the Nvidia cards cannot render the cloak correctly in Halo PC. This allows it to use the cloak correctly. (obviously) You download DXTweaker from here: http://www.nonatainment.de/web/DirectXTweaker/Download/tabid/ 58/Default.aspx

when its setup... start it and setup Halo PC's directory on there as a new profile and set it as active. Then under Modules to Load (click to open it) go down to Ident Changer

Check mark it and it should drop down another menu when its opened

Enter the following information into it to make all the real shaders on Halo PC Work including the Cloak.

Driver: ati2dvag.dll
Description: leave this blank
Device Name: Radeon X1900 Series
Driver Version: 6.14.10.6599
Vendor ID: 1002
Device ID: 724B
SubSystem ID: B121002
Revision: 0x0000

This works for Nvidia cards that support shaders 2.0 except for the nvidia 5200 and down.

It's a simple trick to make the game think your on an ATI Card.

Once thats done just hit start and itll launch the game with the settings. thats all :)

Also your recommendation for a video card... I would go with an Nvidia Video Card because for 3 reasons.

1: Power!
2: Compatibility with most games and all new ones coming out
3: I used to own an ATI Radeon X850 XT PE and all I had was constant loading lag in every game except Halo PC. Just a mans opinion there really.

EDIT: Overclocking...

I just used the Coolbits registry file that enabled in the Nvidia Video Card menu the Overclocking Options. Then I let it set my overclock automatically with no problems :D

EDIT2: Yes, I know this guide was previously posted on the forums but I went through search and couldn't find it.

OhmyGod, dude, don't post more than once in a row. This is not an instant message chatroom. There's an edit button right there if you want to change your posts. Please use it. :)

Hmmm... I tried to be nice man but to be honest with ya I think you're a real dick Kim. Like I said before, I am aloud, and will do, whatever I want within the limits of the Bungie Code of Conduct. If you don't like it, too damn bad. Are you going to make me write in one post? I don't think so. If you have a problem with the way I post, in my own thread mind you, then go cry to one of the Bungie Moderators.

It might not be in the Bungie code of conduct, but right after this you went ahead and posted at least twice with no apparent purpose. That my friend, is known as spam, and as bumping. The code of conduct DOES NOT overrule the General forum rules. I suggest you read them before you continue to act like they don't exist.

That, and Kim wasn't being mean to you... at all... He simply stated that the edit button is there for your convenience.

No need for insult.

here i read something about Geforce to

Crank up the power with NVIDIA® GeForce® 7950 graphics processing units (GPUs). GeForce 7950 GX2 features a knockout pair of GeForce processors on one irresistibly powerful board. This dual-GPU board features an astounding 1 GB of fast GDDR3 memory and support for resolutions up to 2560 X 1600. It’s a beautiful thing.

NVIDIA® GeForce® 8 series graphics processing units (GPUs) redefine the PC gaming experience. With a revolutionary unified architecture and full support for Microsoft® DirectX® 10 games, GeForce 8 series GPUs deliver unprecedented performance, extraordinarily detailed environments, and film quality game effects.

but im still going to ATI but then again the Geforce 8 series supports DirectX 10 so im not sure

For the cash, if you can find a 7900GTO for $240 or less, that could be the best deal you would get. I am not just saying that cos I have it.

Are all the people a grayish-white color in Multiplayer?

My parents computer has only has an intel integrated video card. Though it's 128 MB, it does not support T&L and there is no shading. What that basically means is the graphics suck on it lol. Everyone is a grayish-white color and, like you said, the visor's are black.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I have an EVGA nVidia Geforce 7600.
It's pretty good, runs all the latest games, even Halo. I run it at max settings sometimes. Right now I'm doing default, don't know why though.

I'm saving to upgrade to the Radeon X2900 and crossfire (my board supports it lol) them. Forget the 8800, I'm going ATI, especially after I've seen the specifications on that thing.

I've got a Nvidia FX 5900XT, 1024x768 no prob

The card sucks on the benchmarks, but it has no trouble running most games(just Vista does).
