Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

That's like allowing criminals to steal so that they won't commit murder.

If you knew ahead of time that a criminal was EITHER going to steal OR commit murder, and you could only prevent one, which would you do? The choice should be clear.

If commentless quoting were a bannable offense, the ninjas would spend far too much time trying to figure out what is and is not "permissible" commentless quoting. For this reason, it seems better to take the lesser of two evils and allow it. But that's just my opinion and I'm open to being persuaded.

What is difficult about "Commentless quoting is bannable."
It's neither complex, or easily misunderstood.
It would take even the most intellectually challenged ninja all of 2 seconds to determine if the rule had been broken.

Gosh, if you're not even gonna read the whole post, and you're going to ignore perfectly valid points, then I see no need to continue this argument.

I'm outta this thread, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Speaking of permissible, I don't recall sanctioning the use of my name, Mr. Foman!

Also, such a problem you describe is far from the most important issue we need to tackle as a community.

Exactly, I've been reading the same National Geographic in the B.net bathroom for six months. FIX YOUR PERIODICALS BUNGIE!!!!!!

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

All I was suggesting is, if allowing people to press three buttons to post their feelings keeps them content, then why risk the possibility of them flaming.

So you're saying we should allow members to act in a questionable manner to prevent them from breaking the rules?

This is precisely the point I've been getting at all along.

Your analogy is far from the first point I was trying to make. First off, straight-posting (or commentless posting as Foman calls it) is far from a questionable manner. If people have little else to say beyond what's been said previous, there's no reason for them not to simply quote them and be done.

Above that, if we start blacklisting people for performing such an act, people will simply resort to criticizing with insults, et cetera.

An additional point I'd like to bring up would be the easier reading of the threads. If a thread contains 8 replies, 5 of them being commentless, it can be read much quicker to the same effect than one with 8 unique replies, 6 of them saying similar but different on a syntax level.

You're becoming redundant, my friend.
I've already replied, at length, to all those points.

That said, I don't understand how having 5 or 6 commentless quotes in a thread is more desirable than the same number of different, though syntactically differing posts.

I said nothing about being desireable. I clearly said "easier reading" It's much easier to comprehend a simple thread where the unanimous opinion is represented several times in the same form rather than deciphering different representations of the same point.

Damn...I should be taking notes
*jots down on pad*
'easier reading' is not equal to 'more desirable'.

Got it.
Any other absurdities you'd like to impart on me?
Maybe your aversion to syntax stems from the fact that you apparently have problems discerning similar meanings from syntactically differing posts.

Are you sure she didn't give you permission to 'stroke my post'?

Sometimes she gets things confused.

She once told me to pet her kitty...I searched the house for half an hour and never found that cat.
Now I think I know why.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Ok this is getting kind of silly now. The point's been made pretty obvious and i'm pretty sure people have already said what's needed to be said.
