Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

It'd be cool if one day Achronos posted a list of the 100 most active posters in a WWU or something. Just once, for kicks and giggles. It can just be a one time thing.

anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

whether its good or not, i see these people an awful lot on my travels around b.net.

alienwolve
rhythmkiller
sesquipadelian
mob death [in his various forms]
iceman assass1n
master kim [mainly the maw]
gladiator pie
conan9845
qsk j dik
viper venom

and thats about it as far as my thoughts towards regular posters go. If we count groups, flamechu is the #1 in all respects. Man that guy knows how to make some interesting spam! :)

You forgot MLG Cheewawa ~ if you make a pistol/h1> h2, or almost any post on h3 forum (thats good, not spam), he comes out.

I dunno. People would probably just standbye and mod their way onto the leader board for kicks.

wait...

Says one of the few Aussie's with xbl, lol.

I can't figure out if people who actually come up with ideas like this are thinking.

  • 03.05.2007 7:08 PM PDT

I have returned

Maybe if it counted posts larger than 100 characters.

it was just my experience of b.net :) i have seen you around - but i tend to lurk in optimatch and seeing as prometheus or yourself rarely show your faces in there...

I dont know - there isnt really a way of implementing a user controlled "more x than you" function as people will find a way of abusing it, spam being an obvious example if a post count were introduced. +Rep comes close, especially if you work in features to stop mass accounts & giving +Rep, but where there's a will there's a way.

A non-user [i.e. staff] controlled system would only increase the ass kissery that is already [imo] rampant.

More than likely it's already been stated but... Most people would spam threads or reply to certain threads that they wouldn't have normally done before such a systm ws implemented.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

This is exactly why members can't really determine who is an active user... Like Necare stated, I rarely show up in Optimatch (or anything besides the first 3 forums for that matter).

I know everyone has their preferences, although it would be nice to see how some members compare to others...

Yeah, I used to be super active in optimatch. Then they got rid of Team Carnage and my world exploded!!!!

Haha, but yeah... even though I only quoted part of your post, I agree with the whole thing. \

I think that it would be far too difficult to create such a list and maintain it - especially if you only wanted to include active posters who are not spammers. It would require somebody familiar with all of the forums and objective enough to rationally decide who is and is not a spammer. I fear that it would turn into a popularity contest. The good side of it, however, is that it would encourage intelligent, well-thought out posts rather than spam. It would be cool if they could think of a way to do it.

Activity isnt only judged by a post count, just because you dont see us post doesnt mean we dont exist. Many of the most active members here either only reply or read topics, we cannot actually judge who is more active unless we had a way to measure their online time.

Activity should be determined by your posts, not amount of time online.
You can stay signed in all you want, but that will not determine your activity.
If you only read topics, you are not an active member.

I guess your right, activity can be considered contribution to the forum. But then again, not everyone visits every forum, and a majority of "active" members would most likely be spammers. I myself only visit two forums, the Septagon and Halo 3, just because I like to keep updated on Halo and community news/discussions. I may not be the most active member, but I definitely feel I have contributed something to this site.

There are many members that would be on that list that most likely wouldn't deserve it if it was solely based on post count.

People would only spam to reach the top, and that isn't fair to the other active members that have unique posts. Maybe an activity level for who's on the most often so admins could know who to invite into their groups. It won't work out for post quantity but maybe post quantity?

What do you mean by Spam? All spammers are banned in the forums ~ trollers etc. If you repetitively spam, you either get a PM from a mod, or an ultimatum on the forum ~ stop or your gone.

I agree, the only thing you can tell about a person by their post count is an attention span.

I have yet to see that theory applied anywhere, in any way, at any point in time. Ever.

There are a lot of active members, like me for example. l'm usually in The Septagon, The Halo 3 Forum, New Mombassa, and The Flood. lf you spend most of your time else where, then you obviously wouldn't see much of me, because l don't tend to venture out of those few forums. There for for some one to say who's active and who's not isn't fair.
