Subject: What I think needs to be priority 1 for Halo 2 Multiplayer

Yes a few seconds of invincibility to hide would be nice, but not great, i mean if you were on blood gultch for example, and someone is about to go through the portal, you spawn and start chasing them, you will still be behind them and invincible for a few seconds leaving them helpless while you batter them with bullets

I've never been a big fan of forced spawn invincibility. Spawn camping in games like capture the flag is almost mandatory for point scoring. Make it an option for sniper heavy games and you got yourself a deal. And yes, make the flag activated by the X button, but not the skull.

It is true, you won't be able to randomly throw a flag at a team mate to pick it up, but I don't see that as a loss. If this were a game in life you couldn't just throw something at someones back when they're not ready and have them pick it up. It adds a new level of strategy as the person would have to press x and be ready. I don't think it would really effect my friends and I to have to do this for toss ups. Any time we go to toss the falg to someone else they are ready. It would be no different from picking up a weapon in mid air (which we do with some regularity).

As for the temporary invincibility on spawn I have thought of this before and came up with a decent solution I think. Say you have 3 seconds of total invincibility but if you shoot your gun before those 3 seconds are up, you take a major health penalty maybe like 75% of your shileds. Temporary invincibility could of course also be a game option so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal for those who don't like it.

That said I still think press x to pick up flag is the main game mechanic change that needs to be made to Multi. Please bungie?

if they have temporary invincibility, then it should last about half a second. that's more than enough time to get your bearings. however long it takes for oversheild to powerup is a good time. it would be pretty well balanced because you would have a little time to hide or do something if your opponents were spawn killing, but chances are that no one would be able to kill an enemy in that half second of invincibility. spawn killing would not be eliminated, but it would take much more skill.

Number one priorty should be a excellent net-code so it doesn't get laggy as hell on Xbox Live. You can do everything else right, but if there's no way of playing it properly (lag-free) there really is no point.

It's is a big pole too, requiring two hands to carry.

This guys a super soldier who can flip tanks, a pole shouldn't give him a high enough level of trouble as to stop you carrying it one handed and using a one handed weapon.

Its not a weight issue. The flag is so important to moral that he carries it with two hands to avoid the dropsies. Or maybe the enemy greases up the pole, forcing him to be extra careful. ohh, those crafty blues.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Wow. I've honestly never thought of that. And I do see your point and how it would be a problem. I, personally, have never had that problem, but an addition of "press x" would be great none the less.

Would be fun to be able to trow the flag like a javelin

Either to kill someone or to trow it further to a friend.

Great point my friend, I think that would solve numerous frustrating moments in CTF where im running by the flag to pick up a shotgun and find a pole in my hand and end up feeling the S-GUN shell in my cranium. X=Greatness!

This wouldn't be a problem because the pick up range for the flag wouldn't be that large. If it was you would automatically pick up the flag when going for a shot gun in Halo 1 because MC does it automatically and thus automatic pick up would be an even bigger problem now!

I couldn't have thought of a better idea, countless of times my teammate (dumb as they are) would die right in front of me and drop the flag where I was running. Ah, a simple x button would solve all that problems. Good thinkn'!

If they did implement this, would you want the flag to be walk-through. Like, it takes up no physical space (similair to the small trees in Battle Creek) or would you want it to have mass, and be something you have to walk around (it would also be a small barrier)?

I've thrown this idea to my friends countless times. I hope if enough people add their support to this idea, that Bungie will at least make it a feature that can be turned on and off...it seems like it would be simple to do.

I think they could keep it as it is with the flag taking up no physical space (notice players who the flag belongs to can walk right through it). That all works fine; I just hate picking the thing up when I don't want to.

About pressing X to pick up the flag... i wouldnt want it... but it still is a good idea... the only ting i see wrong with the idea is the Zone part. The simple way to do this would be...

Press X to pick up the flag... after u have picked it up the flag handling would be the same as on halo 1
-to pass it press shoot
-to put it down press shoot

and having the ability to shoot and the flag i think would make the game less strategic
