On a similar note - the local Muskegon, MI GameRush store - which is less than a year old - did a fairly good job too, despite the hectic nature of things.
There were some issues - like the fact that they had a "paid preorder" line (which I was in) and a "no preorder" line - and although the "no preorder" was easily 2x or 3x as long as the prepaid, it cleared in like a 1/4 of the time (preorders had to be looked up, verified, etc...).
Problem was, the salesperson in the "no preorder" line grabbed a box of games which included a number of Collectors Editions discs. This wouldn't be a problem, except somehow someone messed up in matching the preorders and in my case (as well as others), my Collector's Edition preorder card was taped to a standard copy. When the salesgirl realized the mixup, she booked it to the other line and snatched the very last CE copy off the counter where a last minute walk-in was paying for it. I felt bad for a minute - knowing how upset the guy musta felt having it ripped from his grasp - but, hey, I shelled out the cash like 2 months ago...
I really feel bad for any behind me who may have had the same problem with no extra copies left in the store. They really shouldn't have sold any non-preorders until all of the paid preorders were taken care of. I hate to sound that way, but there should be some compensation for making the investment in advance - what with possible delays, etc...
Still for a place barely a year old, run by a bunch of kids, it went pretty well, and I have to tip my hat to them.
