Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

No big suprises there.

MS would be crazy to charge different prices for the same service.

I already have a Live Gold subscription from my 360, so I don't need to worry about the 3 cents/day for this. :p

The real question that I have?

Appropriately, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to use their accounts to enjoy the Live for Windows features on their home PCs (and presumably vice versa).

I certainly hope that this means I can use my PC (if it requires Vista, fine) to access the XBL Marketplace and Video Marketplace. If I can access movies and vids with my PC, purchase/rent them and DL them to my network storage and then play them via my 360's as a media-extender..... they will have one happy customer.

everything 360 live can do so can Live for windows (eventually)

It is people like you that make people like me need medication.

Hmm it is right on par with the 360 pricing except the monthly. For the 360 a month of live is only 6 bucks.

Oh well I already have live anyway so I am set.

I heard the rented movies look like crap compared to the full HD-DVD versions at least for HD movies, SD looks like garbage anyways.

Anyways IMO all this marketplace rent is garbage, I want a DRM free full quality video then Ill care. Anyone else feel this way?

I'm confused. Microsoft has a bunch of services at www.live.com which they call Windows Live. Is this Live for Windows anything at all related to or an extention of Windows Live? And why are the names so similar? Live.com has nothing to do with games (at the moment). They have some strange plans.

This is Live Anywhere or Games For Windows Live.

Completely different from Windows Live.

Different things. This live is an extension of Xbox live to certain games coming for vista. It can get confusing with everything having a similar name.

Also yea the HD movies on marketplace are crap. It is clear as day they are compressed and have a lot of problems. However the TV shows look good. I downloaded the SouthPark HD episode and the difference between it's quality and the movies I have rented are night and day.

No comparison between Marketplace HD video and HD DVD or BD. You'll never have full quality, especially with the long movies. All the video is encoded with VC-1, Microsoft's do-no-wrong-low-bitrate-to change the world codec. AFAIK, everything is limited to 1280x720p as well. VC-1 is a great efficient codec, but just like mpeg2 or AVC, it still needs the proper bitrate to avoid blocking. Understand that Microsoft wants VC-1 to be THE codec of the future, to replace mpeg2, and Marketplace is the perfect way to get this rolling. Also, Microsoft has a huge stake in HD DVD, where we have seen high quality, high bitrate VC-1 implemented on virtually all discs, save for a few mpeg4/AVC titles.

Nevertheless, if Microsoft makes Marketplace videos available to PC users, it would be a huge step towards VC-1 global domination, and another step closer to networked video on demand as the future of TV viewing.

BTW, AFAIK, the South Park HD episode is free to download at this time...

I havent been on here for ages.

So has it been announced yet that we have to have Live to play Halo2 vista online?

If not, my betting is yes, but I hope not.

Im not getting Live, simply because I wont use it much. Cant see the point of getting it just to play one game (its very doubtful I'll buy another game that uses it). And Im highly in the opinion all PC online gaming should be free, it has managed so far. WOW etc dont count, as they have added content etc.

Yeah, as if PCs can't download trailers, demos, themes, and loads of other downloadable content off the internet already, and for free. This really won't matter to me, because I already pay for Live. Still, I can't help but be irked with Live Anywhere's subscription fee.

I do agree, however, with making the Marketplace content available for the PC (with the exception of some, such as demos for titles that are only 360-exclusive).

The priceing isn't actualy bad as I expected it to be. For once, thanks Microsoft for not making it too expensive. Now my questions are, what will gold have that silver doesn't? Probably nothing I really need.

Xbox Live Memberships

Basically, you can play Halo 2 online for free with Silver, but with Gold, you can play ranked matches with friends and with others across the world.

Um, how about the fact that Gold lets you play games online and Silver doesn't? That's only for the 360, thank God. People will be able to play Halo 2 Vista online without Gold.
