Achronos is working on the PermaBanning system and keeping permabanned users OUT of Bugnie.net for good. Now with the new hawtness arriving, that may be possible. But with the permanent permabans, maybe there will be a day where Bungie.net can have users with over a year of activity, use their own custom avatars! Of course they have to be Bungie related somehow, but that's cool. Halo is uber.

Would you like this?

Custom avatars would be cool, and it would give people another reason to follow the rules.

Shush, you! :) But really. Anyone that has a Halo 2 emblem as their avatar that thinks their avatar is unique can just stop posting all together. Not that I am saying you do that Sketto. I have seen members say that repeatedly.

I wish I could...

It would raise the whole pr0n thing possibly, but maybe if the avi's were approved or something? I mean, 1 year of activity isn't a hard feat to accomplish necessarily.

The problem with letting users have custom avatars is that you can't control them, you will get avatars of Cortana and MC in bed or things that even adults don't want to see much less children.

No. This has been discussed to death. Each time the "No" out wavers the "Yes" this case will be no different. In my opinion, having a custom avatar for just the moderators is a reward of sorts. Think about this Chin. The moderators are literally the janitors of the forums. Cleaning up after everyone makes a mess. In my opinion, they should at least have something to themselves. That being a custom avatar. If you want to feel so special just use an avatar that is not used very often. One that you rarely see. I don't really care how badly someone wants it, in my opinion, it is one of the few rewards the moderators have. They should at least have something all to their own. That is, not to mention the community is far too immature to handle such a thing. Personally, I would not like to see some one's ass. You may say that moderators could just monitor the avatars. But their job is hard enough as it is. Going through every thread, just to look at avatars would be a waste of time and would distract them from what they receive pixie dust and unicorns for. In other words, it would be a waist of their time.

Rewards? The mods dont need rewards. Either they are willing to be a mod for free or dont take the job if they dont get anything for it.

They have rewards. For being good, helpful, productive members, they get white text and their own avatar. (Actually, the white text is more or less to distinguish their authority from other members, but some consider that something 'cool' or 'rewarding')

I believe that when the "New New Hawtness", as it's being called by many of you, comes out, it will have system in place (as Achronos has hinted to this many many times) that will reward members who positively help the community.

What these rewards are? That remains hidden.

I wonder if when the new website is launched, Bungie will have a big writeup of all the new features, and how things will work differently.

I second that notion.

i've been here actively for over 2 years now.

And there are others that have been here even longer then I, a lot more.

So there already is people with over a year of activity.

The only thing I would like is Customs avatars.

Yeah, I just want custom avatars. Even if there were, I'd only want my H2 symbol or a pic from another game. Only those should be allowed anyway, although idk how well it could be enforced. Due to some certain difficulties, I cannot link my GT so I cant have my H2 symbol as my avatar, and I'd really like that.

with the New hawtness maybe we can even have our Gamer card pic or an avatar frm the selections or our H2/h3(when it launches) symbol.

That would be nice.

I just would like to take a moment that "Permanent Perma-bans" is highly redundant.

...

I think membership time should mean nothing, as it does now. Quality of posts, good character, help in the community, and well-mannered-ism-ness, should be rewarded.

There's plenty of pompous jerks that have been around for more than a year, or even as long (or longer) than myself.

And while I am working on something that is designed to make users more attached to their account, it will not be active because I don't have the statistics right yet.

The new hotness is just the start. Bungie.net will be evolving a lot between now and Halo 3.

I really hope this "evolution" doesn't end up destroying the groups or taking away group forums because I've put 2+ years of work into my group and it has grown from the efforts of mine and my fellows hardwork and sweat.

As for other user oriented updates I can only imagine what someone as creative as yourself could come up with.

With a custom avatar (bungie related dur) I would feel more special than ever before. I would take stosh's, if he weren't a nudist.

I wish I could make avatars for Bungie.net. I would have a blast doing it. I've sent in one of the avatars I've made, but I guess 4 days is a bit soon for a reply. I'm getting pretty good at Photoshop and Imageready. link1 link2

Custom avatars wouldn't be horribly bad, a lot of other sites have them and if a mod sees an innapropriate avater just permaban the guy.
