You mean global leaderboards? Those are dumb.

We still have leaderboards on bungie.net, you know... well, a leaderboard compared to people on your friends list, anyway.

this is cool and all, BUT ARE THERE GOING TO BE LEADERBOARDS?!?!?!?!?

ummm, i think that global leaderboards are cool. they give you something to try to accomplish. im going to habe to disagree with you on that one.

Reach!

A long time coming, but it's a good update! Hopefully we wont have the same split screen in HD as Halo 2 has. Feels like tunnel vision.

How come you guys can never post info about HALO2VISTA in the Weekly Update? There was actually a bunch of info put out this week but no mention of it in here. Is there nothing you can give us about HALO2VISTA? You can't even tell us more info will be coming. The MAW will not stand for this.

Totally agree Iggy, We NEED H2V info!

MAWZORZ!

Also agreed that'd it be nice to see some decent H2PC info. :)

Thanks, and...

Since split screen was addressed in this update I have a question.

Will there be a horizontal option for split screen for wide screen TV's?

Ever since the 360 came out I have had to change my resolution on my HD TV to 420p normal from 1080i wide whenever I want to play split screen in horizontal mode. I know that there used to be an option on the old Xbox between vertical and horizontal splitscreen but it seemed to have been misplaced on the 360. It would be nice to see Halo 3 in all its glory with out having to dumb down the resolution just so my right eyeball doesn't fallout because im watching someone play in my peripheral vision.

I agree with you Tucker, global leaderboards where cool.

Although, they turned useless when people started cheating, actually they did more harm then good. I am still proud of my clan and i got in top 100 at the time where people actually cared about lvl and rank, and cheating just saw daylight.

If Bungie can reduce cheating in Halo 3, brigding, modding, standbying etc. I would love to see global leaderboards back. If not i give it a shot with new levels in Halo 3 :)

This is the Bungie Weekly Update. As Bungie is not directly developing Halo 2 for Windows Vista, we're not going to be the ones announcing much info about it... at least not in our Weekly Update. That's not to say we'll never talk about it, but rather that most of Bungie's collective attention is focused on Halo 3 (and to a lesser extent, Halo 2 maps).

I suggest you look around, I believe there have been rumblings from Hired Gun (the MGS team doing much of the work for Halo 2 Vista) about various features of the game.

All I want is some solid H2V info, maybe some new screens, info on the mapmaker, or even a release date. Come through for us Frankie.

And I suggest Bungie gets their act together and post some new screen shots, new info and an updated FAQ. But who am I to want you to do your job?

Are the new Halo 2 multiplayer maps going to be in high-def (since I believe they are only playable with a 360)?

Maps cannot be 'high def'. They can be rendered in a higher, 720p resolution on the 360 because of its superior graphics card capabilites, but the actual look and feel will be very similar to existing Halo 2 maps becuase of the limitations of the game engine that Halo 2 uses. Maps built for the Halo 2 engine, but running in emulation on 360 will never, ever look as good as maps made for the Halo 3 engine, and running on the Xbox 360 natively. Textures may be slightly higher resolution because of the 360's larger memory pool, but don't count on it.

I was confused about whether the wind in the grass was for H3 or the new H2 maps. They're for Halo 3. Halo 2's engine doesn't support that.

What the hell does UI stand for? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_interface Like the menu system when you start the game, or your HUD (more commonly refered to as GUI) or even just the input method (ie, the controller).

Honestly. *rollseyes*

Will these new Halo 2 maps be coming to HALO 2 VISTA?

I think this is a really good question actually. I knew there were going to be some new maps with Halo 2 Vista, and that there are some new maps for Halo 2 360 coming soon. but are these actually the same maps? Or are they two different sets? And if they are two different sets, will Halo 2 vista players have access to these new Xbox maps, and vice versa?

Anyway, people are such whiners these days. When Bungie have something to announce (like beta release date), they will. Theres no point announcing a date when it hasn't been finalised and then disapointing people more.

I actually thought it was quite a good update this week, dispite the lack of imagery.

Bungie doesn't have to do a update every week. Very few games companies make regular updates at all, let alone (almost) every week. And bungie doesn't just do the updates either, they have humpdays every once in a while, community interviews, occasional links to interesting happenings in the community, fan art posts. Not to mention the great (albiet spammed) forums and group features. We get a hell of a lot more than most game communities do from their developers.

So for that, i'm grateful. Seems like I'm in a minorty here though.

also, about the split screen
can there be anyway to change it
without changing your settings on
your xbox or 360?
I like the "wide" look
but i have a HDTV and I have the Vertical Look
There should be a setting in the game
....NAY!

It has to do that on a lot of HD TV's cause of widescreen...playing it the old way messes up the lighting at least for me anyways it depends on where I am sitting in the room but really I support the new splitscreen in Halo 2 when it is in HD

Hummm??? Jub Jub?

It suggests either a star wars jubba the hutt theme or some bulbous disgusting (gravemind-ish) feel. Either way sounds cool.

Hope we get some pics or news from the new halo 2 maps as I'm having a lan game in a few weeks and it would be really cool to test em out then.

no, im not a nub

Good update this week!

I would also like to ask for the release date on the Beta (or even halo 3 for that matter), but I do understand it doesn't make any sense to give a release date and have it not be ready by then. Bungie rarely disappoints people and I think it's because they are soooo careful about what they do say.

oooouuuuu... grass and water effects!!! I am excited to see what Frankie gets so excited about. It's got to be good!

I would be great to have more H2V info. So what if bungie isn't directly involved in it's development. Bungie wasen't wrighting the Halo Graphic Novel or Ghosts of Onyx, but they where still updateing them all the time.

Long live The MAW!

This is really getting ridiculous with the lack of info on H2V. This week saw a wealth of information published on H2V, including a release date, a blog by Hired Gun, 5 new screenies, and a gameplay video. If Bungie wants to spend all their time saying OMG TEH WATERZ IN HAOL 3 IST TEH COOLZ, and not even bothering to drop a tidbit of H2V info, then fine, but don't expect me, The Maw, or any of the PC gaming community (yes there is one) to buy H2V.

Think about it from a logical point of view. Bungie wants money. Bungie makes Halo 3, for which all the console fanboys pay $30 for the game and $400 for the 360. PC users buy H2V and spend $60 on the game, $300 for the new OS, and about $2000 for a computer that can run it. Granted, Bungie never directly gets money for the Xbox, OS, or new computer, but guess where taht money goes? Microsoft. Microsoft and Bungie have a contract. When Microsoft gets money, so does Bungie. 'Nuff said.

LONG LIVE TEH MAWZORZ
