I have seen that thread, and it's been here before, yet people still blame gearbox. I have a feeling bungie's not going to want to sticky this, so once again many people will not see this thread.

I said most Maw goers, and if they just ignore what is stated in the link, well, then they are ignorant for ignoring hard cold facts.

Judging by your sig, I believe that calling you ignorant is completely justified.

Already knew about this, and do try to clear things up if someone blames GBX for things they weren't responsible for.

However, there are things they WERE responsible for (lack of custom map support, nothing to do with the only a single disc issue), inflexibility, bugs, some lazy graphics implementation etc.

No custom map supporting is entirely the fault of the 1 Cd mandate. Halo PC maps draw all the bitmaps and sounds off differn't maps, while in CE, the maps are self contained, and are more independant. As far as lazy Grafic problems, yea, some of those are gearbox's fualt.

Yes, I am aware of the fact textures and the like are pulled out of single files (bitmaps.map for example), but what does this have to do with the lack of support for custom maps?

CE still has shared resources (bitmaps.map, sounds.map still) but has the added ability to allow maps to store their own resources thus removing the need to inject them as HPC mod maps needed.

Had the support been added to HPC originally, it wouldn't have taken a lot of extra CD space (a few megabytes max?).

I don't see the one CD thing as an excuse.

Yes, I don't blame Gearbox for the bad netcode. Sure, it is ridiculous to lead like 3 inches in front of your enemy with a sniper projectile. But if ya'll don't like leading, DON'T -BLAM!-ING PLAY HALOPC. Go play CS or BF2 or something, something you don't have to lead in. If you're going to play HaloPC, enjoy it, and stop complaining about the netcode.

Heck, I thank Gearbox for making the netcode bad. Takes a whole lot more skills to estimate where your enemy is going to be based on your ping. It seperates the big boys from the new guys.

it always pisses me off that people blames it on gearbox when infact most the stuff in halo PC was made from MS or Bungie, gearbox just made it compatible with the PC

QFMFT.

Guys, if all you're going to do is blame other people's failures, just don't play the games. If a random kid hosts a huge b-day party (in real life of course), and you hate this kid and blaming him for every little thing, why even go to his own party?

No offense, but the Maw really isn't the best forum out there anymore. Sure it has more "intelligent people", but it seems arrogance(sp?) and ignorance mixes well with Maw-intelligence. Geezus Kryst.

I'm sorry, quoting/linking all the ignorant posts of people blaming gearbox after they've been told, or shown, about this would break this sites bandwidth.

It is the same everywhere.

The Flood, The Septagon, The Maw, whichever one you think is the best, they all have had their fall from grace. It's all relative: we're blind to the problems of our favorite forums, and we lord it over the rest because we see ourselves as perfect, but in the end we're all afflicted by the same problems, but all we see is everyone else's.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

All who (still) blame Gearbox for bad netcode, please say "I"

My point is, I think the regulars here are edumacated with the truth of that matter, and so continuing to beat that dead horse is pointless, we know the truth, it wasn't Gearbox, enough already!
