So here we go people, the countdown starts now for the Monday May 8th, 2007 release of H2V:
EDIT: Rather than keep posting the countdown entry progressively, and "bumping the thread," in accordance with Agamemnon582bc's suggestion I will just edit this first post everyday. As of March 16, 2007:

~*‹«^¤‡~53 Days~‡¤^»›*~

53 days = 1272 hours = 76320 minutes = 4579200 seconds

Note: date subject to change.

Also you can go here for a "real" countdown timer for the release of H2V (in the upper right corner of the page). It's much more accurate than this one. You can also "pre-order" a copy following the link under the countdown clock. Thanks to Agamemnon582bc for the site referral.

Cheers.

Yeah. That's GameSpot. It's on GameSpot, so it must be true, right? Don't believe anything unless it is confirmed from the official source.

Cheers.

What it is.

Apparently a lot of sites, well, the stupid ones like EBGames/Gamestop also have their release date at May 8th. Before that it was April 24th, but not that they mentioned that it was being released before the halfway-point of the year, i can see how this is reasonable.

Heh, "don't believe anything unless it is confirmed from the official source?" You do mean bungie right? You can sit and wait for bungie to release information on H2V, but I'm perfectly fine with getting info from third-party sites. What do you think Gamespot just picked a release date out of their ass? They must have gotten it somewhere, no? So I think I'll stick to my Gamespot info because, for me, it "must be true, right?

Cheers.

Oh and btw, I'd appreciate it if you didn't patronize me. I'm entilted to believe what I want, as are you. In the event that the release date does change, then the countdown will as well. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Gamespot has also provided articles on many of the H2V related things (i.e. System Requirements etc..) that the MAW forum Gods have deemed accurate...

Ok, dued, you should listen to Master Kim, If Bungie doesn't say any thing about the release date, like when it is, maybe, just maybe that all of the release dates that other web sites are puting out are geusses, that is what I think. And if Gamespot said that H2V was coming out today, would you go and camp at gamespot waiting for them to let you in so you can buy H2V? because if Bungie says that the release date is in May 23, then maybe it is coming out on May 23, but so far I haven't found any thing come from bungie saying the release date. Bungie has told every one this, and so far, you're not listening.

then next time you find a release date on a web site saying when H2V is going to be released, check around here at bungie, read up on some of the updates, and see if it is right, because if you're going to post a release date from a web site that isn't Bungie.net, you're most likely going to be patronize.

So tell me, Stealth_1000, has Bungie come out and said anything definitive on Bungie.net about anything H2V? Yes, they have linked to other sites that have posted the information, but have they come out and told us the info themselves? No, they haven't. Bungie has even said that Hired Gun is pretty much doing their own thing. So I say again, I'll believe what I want to believe and you can do the same... As for the camping out in front of the store, I think that news of the H2V release would be a lot bigger (for lack of a better word...) and I wouldn't need to rely on a website, that according to you, posts false information. In addition, I'm not one that camps out in front of the store. I'm the one that puts in his credit card number on amazon.com and clicks a few buttons and has it sent to him in a few days. Also, you mention May 23. Should this have any meaning to me whatsoever?

cheers (reluctantly :)

yes, they have, and out of all of Halo 2 Vista's updates, I've yet to see a release date, and I do believe that they'd tell use about a release date. And in reply to " Also, you mention May 23. Should this have any meaning to me whatsoever?" to you, no, to me, yes, #1, that is my sister's b-day, #2 that is about when schools here in Utah start to have fun, and things slow down alot, that is about when I'm all ways going camping, so that date is one of many dates that stick out the most for me, I could of said June 8th, but I wanted to be close to what you said.

Stores are required to have a release date, to pre-order and pre-sell an item. The thing is, they don't have to have one to make one of their own up.

Keep checking the HG blog on IGN. Other than Bungie, that's probably the most credible source of information on H2V at the moment.

Dawww, the little baby still doesn't understand?

In terms of official Bungie news about H2V, we have gotten about all there is for them to give right now save for insider info regarding what guidlines Bungie has set out for Hired Gun. Everything to do with H2V's progress will come from Hired Gun, and seeing as how Bungie is currently up to their necks in Halo 3, in both game development and pre-marketing etc., I think them simply waiting for Hired Gun to say something, is perfectly fine. Does Microsoft have a frontpage article about every MGS press release? No, why? Because MGS has their own website for one, and every "independant" developer for them has their own website, Bungie was being nice in letting us know that Hired Gun had made a blog article, they didn't have to do that, EA doesn't do that for it's third party development teams.

You wanted H2V news, you got it, now your -blam!-ing because it's not all nicely typed up by Frankie himself? And if you will remember, not one store got Halo 2's release date correct until, obviously, they were told what it would be, so why would you go and be so dumb as to make this thread, knowing they are more than likely wrong by a fair margin?

Personally, your origional purpose of making this thread maybe was missguided, but it's your attitude towards Bungie that you show later that really grinds my nerves, so how about you and everyone else stop whining like spoiled brats, Bungie isn't your mother and doesn't owe you anything, and you don't deserve anything, what they are giving you is a game, that's what they do, everything else on top of the actual delivery of the game, is uneeded gravy on top of the already jucy meat that has been every game they have released.

Man I miss the late 80's and early 90's, when all anyone knew of a game really was that it was on the store shelf one day and looked cool. I think a modification of an old adage fits well "Give them a Screenshot, and they walk all over you."

I'm supprised nobody is complaining at the lack of Halo 3 stuff, I mean, C&C 3 has like three podcasts and gameplay movies and trailers and everything! Bungie has just given us one semi-ok podcast, a handfull of screenshots, and some weapon info.

The only people who can be legitly pissed at Bungie are the Myth and Oni crowd for selling them to Take Two, and possibly the Marathon ancients for the lack of Bungie based community tools outside of groups, but they did get a finished game and a licence to modify it so meh, AlphaOne FTW!

If you read the whole thread, or just my other posts, you would realize that I never said Bungie was responsible for the lack of H2V news. I even said, *and I quote* "Bungie has even said that Hired Gun is pretty much doing their own thing." By saying that, I thought that rationally thinking people could infer that Bungie is not responsible for the release of H2V info, but rather MGS Hired Gun.

In regard to the rest of your obscenely long post, I'm not even going to comment on the rest of it, as it was completely off base and not related to the initial thread.

Please don't turn this into a flame war. We were fine, no insults were thrown out until you showed up. That being said, you can post your opinion, but I would like it if you aren't always so condescending. That should go to everyone who posts on B.net. Everyone is big behind a keyboard, but think about what you post. Again, not you specifically but everyone in general.

Thanks, Cheers.

I never said that you blamed Bungie for the lack of info, I said that you blamed Bungie for not posting relevant info themselves, and instead relied on third parties (Hired Gun) to do so.

Which was your point, no? That Bungie can't be relied on to post info as it becomes available and that we have to rely on others to get it? And thus why you are willing to trust the GameStop release date, because, as you said, they wouldn't pull a date out of their arse, right?

Well they do, and my whole point is that when relevant info is released by third parties, Bungie does take note and does us the favour of making a news story about it, and certainly something as important as the release date they have thus far not let leak to others before their own annoucement.

And yes, the rest of my post was a general rant and was not related to this topic.

Trust the Bungie, thier only human, but they have thus far not let us down. I mean come on, they could have just lobbed The Maw in with The Libarary, but they didn't, they still care.
