Frank is right, Nessy has painted it black and white.

Love the 'pr0s' bit. Sad imo.

A recent discussion has got me interested - do any of you find it easier to kill people with a higher ping?

I never thought that anyone would think it to be an advantage to have a higher ping, maybe I was wrong. Please vote truthfully to whether you think you do better with a high or a low ping in halo pc.

Please don't lie just to be controversial

omg if i chuld have one thing right now in want a low ping on halo. i cant play halo cause i got so high a ping!! i cant get a new ISP till may cause thats when the contract ends

It is by far easier to get a kill with low ping, your poll and question entirely miss the point I was making.

However, if we are talking someone with low ping, and someone with a significantly higher ping (say, +100 relative to the lower ping person), it is possible that the higher ping player will have an advantage, due to how the 56k netcode compensates by favouring the higher ping player's signal above the person with the lower ping, thus causing the lower ping player to experience a higher degree of lag effects when playing the high ping player, while the high ping player will have less lag effect against the low ping player, thus making it more difficult for the low ping player to hit the high ping player, and visa versa for the low ping player, I bet most of the time the differences are not noticeable and player skill nullifies it, but sometimes it can have a great affect and result in those rare instances that I am positive many people have noticed where somone is just owning, and it's less that he is a really good shot and more that people just can't seem to hit him.

I was being general and just using the most basic of examples with my +100 ping statement, so don't go arguing numbers.

When I hit 400-1000 ping, I am an unstoppable scoring machine.

Why would a more lag for the high ping player make it more difficult for him to get hit? It obviously would NOT. Both players connections fo to the server, then to the opposition. This means that if you have lower ping to the server, you lead less. You would not have any advantage what so ever with a higher ping unless you were downloading in which case you would warp.

You should blame so much of gameplay on ping, high ping is obviously a disadvantage in all scenarios unless you are capping, then it can sometimes be an advantage. When killing if you get a lower ping, and face a guy with higher ping, you have the advantage always.

Its been explained to you, but you just dont get it do you?

A high ping player is harder to hit. Even for a low ping player.

Point is, halo PC is a lot less ping tolerant than other games.

high ping players (like you) warp. Thus making harder to hit.

Get it yet?

thought not.

Firstly, I don't warp. End of story, I have played against people in their 0 ping servers that live in the US, and they say I don't warp. Warping occurs when you get 300+ ping or have a connection problem. Not just 166 ping.

It has been explained to you, but obviously YOU don't get it do you, also the majority is VASTLY against you, and yet you don't seem to accept being wrong?

38-2...

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Does anyone remember Fred_Mognet from the BUNGIE-CTF servers? He used to use lag to destroy the game. He'd cap the flag, then warp around in a Banshee or Ghost with it for the whole game, and nobody could hit him. I'm sure he would have voted "High Ping". Personally, I prefer the lows.

It depends like in the [M2K] Clanservers which are all NFO servers i have amazing ping like 34 but i can never find lead in the first game. But in my clan server i have like 168 ping and i can find lead within the first or second kill.

I absolutely suck ass with 0 ping. 33 is good for me, but since there are hardly any California based servers, that isnt an option (and the ones that are...are either locked KW clan servers, or nub servers that have rockets only on them)

67-100 is ideal for me...used to that.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

LMFAO that you said that. Months and months ago static and i were messing around (i was showing him how to wall jump on danger canyon, still have the video) and we decided to 1v1 on wizard. Despite him os whoring, he blanked me 25-0. I had 0 ping. I could not for the life of me figure out the lead. I even asked him to strafe across my screen so I could try to figure it out, and I still could not. It was pretty hilarious, less so for me. Then we switched and I lost again (not as badly) partly because I was so out of sorts with the lead.

The point is that I was unprepared for what 0 ping would mean, and I sucked. :)

Ahh well thats my next upgrade. Its got a quad-quad core arcitecture, based on a 12 nanometer main core.

Those motherboards that take that processor will of course have the next QRDDR memory, with 4 gig sticks. Of course, Im going for the good memory, with the 256mb cache on, not the paltry 128mb.

Ive heard some say theres 8Gb sticks with 512mb cache on them, but thats just people making stuff up.

You know, the type of people that think Klanwars members know best.

Mind you, I will need another PSU for that, with the power it takes. Perhaps a kilowatt one, but that might not be enough.

I think a 1100 should be enough, dont you think? What do you think of this?

I think that QRDDR memory is overhyped, I'm going to stick with XDDR3 for the moment. But yes, that PSU should be fine.

And yea, I hate how those kind of people just go and make -blam!- up, 8MB? Come on.

But if your going for the Whale edition, you have to get the QRDDR memory. I havent seen a motherboard that takes the new processors and the old memory yet.

Oh, and you need to mod your case if your going to get an ATI 77X900, or a Nvidea TG8101 Turbo. They require plugging in directly to the mains, so you need to accomidate a power cable going into the case.

Personally, Im just going to take off 2 blanking plates.

I actually find a large increase in shot difficulty when my ping is over 100. I have to lead sometimes two body widths, and grenade lag severely throws me off.

high ping players (like you) warp. Thus making harder to hit.
I don't see players warping until they get over 200. Nessy is usually 130-160 on American servers, and I never see him warp.

im beast at like 100-130 ping but the maw server is to messed up to snipe

a low ping like 33 always jumps up to 66 or 100 every once in a while so i dont know where to lead in in a server thats in like seattle. i find a 100 ping NY server to be the most stable

I tend to do better at pings around 80-120. I don't play on pings lower than that too often, and when I do, my leads get all messed up.
