Ping, in its simplest term is an estimate of the round trip time it takes for information to be shared between two computers. The higher the ping = the more time it takes for information to be transfered. It's measured in milliseconds and a ping of 1000 ms or one second is very, very long in computer time. Ping can be affected by the distance the packet has to travel, the amount of usage on the network, and of course, your internet connection.
High ping = bad.
