who says you have to be an ace to have fun?

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Nice! The beta ought to start very soon then.

EDIT: be prepared for the trolls who will say "it's not official, it's not from HG/MS/Bungie", et cetera.

EDIT 2: Here is an official announcement from MS, so that should shut the trolls up. :)

Found two things I havent heard about since today:
• Multiplayer matchmaking with friends
Is that the so called party system?
• TrueSkill™ matchmaking
What the...?

Will we need any party system for H2V? I mean it's a good and easy way to go hang with your friends quickly, but we'll(we silverdumbys) have the friends list. So silvers can communicate with each other and make a server, is that how it goes, I guess so. Just telling that we won't propably have to pay for having fun with our buddies ^^

That's MS's proprietary matching system they use on the 360.

I'm surprised you guys aren't complaining about the gold membership fee. I suppose you can always go with silver, but doesn't it bother you that MS is trying to sneak in an infrastructure by which they can start charging PC gamers for the things they currently get for free?

The few, the proud, the leet.

*laughs at the people expecting a beta*

It's just over a month till it launches. It's gold. Why would there be a beta for a gold product?

There is nothing we want to have in the Gold membership, we don't want matchmaking, and we don't have a desire to play with all the kiddies on the 360. That just leaves online achievements, and while their complete -blam!-s for not making that free (listing single player achievements as part of the Silver membership is bull-blam!-, sharing them is not difficult and can hardly be listed as a "feature"), it's not important enough to non-competitive people to pay for, and I doubt competitive people will like that they have to pay for it either, likely someone will compile a list of all multiplayer achievements and we can then compare game stats to the list to determine what achievements we qualify for.

Uhh...there is no cross-platform play. Bungie are ready stated it so yeah, make sure you get your facts right.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

So does that mean the maps for the 360 will be coming out soon?

I wouldn't mind seeing if Matchmaking works. The idea is to match you in a game with other players of similar skill. Right now you have to switch around servers so your not playing complete newbs and destroying them or getting frustrated because you can't move without getting headshotted. Hopefully you'll get a nice ebb and flow to the match.

CTF match 2-2 30 seconds left, he getting away with the flag 30 yards... 20 yards... he's down! but someone else picks up the flag.... the band is on the map!..... Bears win! Bears win!

Are you referring to the 360 maps? I ask because I thought I read that H2V is cross platform. Frankie mentioned that new maps would be coming to 360 owners, so I thought they would be coming due to the cross platforming.

But then I read a post that stated there is no cross platforming, so I checked out the FAQ and sure enough it says that H2V owners will only play H2V owners. Boo. I was looking forward to a whole new audience of players and maps.

Hey, I enjoy the odd noobfest, just as much as I enjoy the odd game where I get my arse handed to me ever 5-10 seconds, but not being able to join games in progress and having to wait for players? Boo.

TrueSkill does look tempting though, assuming game developers and MGS can make cheating reporting more useful.

Where are people getting this cross platform thing from, lots of people have been saying this to me?

So what is it, cross platform or not?

Im assuming not, because I cant see how it would work (autoaim on xbox for one).

Modding Halo PC is the fun part about it. That is how Halo: CE was made. That is why I quit playing halo 2 cause there was no way to introduce fun mods to it without people whining and crying over it. If Bungie/Microsoft decide to put the Banhammer on H2V online gameplay then it will fail just like its counterpart on the Xbox. Without mods on H2V, it won't be fun, it will just be a place for stuck up jackasses to talk trash about people's mamas and be overly serious and immature for a video game. So sad....

Correct, Bungie is not doing the port themselves; however, they DID state that there would be no cross-platform gameplay.

In halo 2, no - that was my point also.

But you don't buy a gold live membership just for h2v. Other games are going to be cross-platform. That was the bit in the post we were talking about, that guy thought it meant just H2V for some reason.

HG is most likely in the final stages of debugging and playtesting. It seems logical that most game developers would only confirm a release date when they were pretty much done with the game.
