This processor and this motherboard. I will upgrade my video card when the 8800 cards drop in price a little. Until then, I plan on using my 9250 in the AGP Express card slot.

i dont know the most about CPUs but that one is extreamly outdated

get a core 2 duo, with that one you had it would be the biggest bottleneck on a 8800 gtx

According to Fry's, it is a duel core. And 2.4 gigahertz isn't that bad, especially seeing how I'm going to overclock to 3 anyway.

Fry's is wrong. And it doesn't matter if it's 2.4 gigahertz, or 24 gigahertz, how fast a CPU/GPU is based more on the architechture it is coded on, rather than the clock speed. That's why a 5ghz Intel Pentium D was getting out-performed by a 2.5ghz AMD a year ago.

Thats fine, your going for the mid-high range instead of the hyper expensive ones. I would recommend checking newegg.com they some better things, like ones with 4 memory slots. Also, don't go cheap on a motherboard, I would recommend you get one from Asus, they have plenty of good ones from $50-100 on newegg.

I'm not that rich. At those prices, I'll have a 9250 for the next 5 years.

Go to frys.com. Got o the top, you hover your mouse to make the meus appear. PC Computers<Computer Components<CPU<Socket 939 & 940<Duel

that combo i gave you will last longet than the one you want and all the good AMD's on frys are overpriced and alot more expensive than the C2D i gave you

you can also get a cheap PCI-e card to hold you off till you get the 8800

but im telling you that one your thinking about would bottle neck so hard core on the 8800

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

just get a core 2 duo and a good motherboard, hell even the slowest core 2 duo will bottleneck any 8800 series card.

The few, the proud, the leet.

Core 2 Quad 6600s bottleneck an 8800 GTX. I dont understand why you'd want to stick an 8800 with a 4000+.
