I was thinking, what if Bungie remade Marathon, like Doom 3 was remade (same as Doom 1 only ubered graphics and stuff). Marathon would chew Doom 3 up and spit it out in small little pieces.

I dunno, maybe i'm just crazy but i think the Marathon trilogy remade would be dangerous!

I havent played any of the Marathon games, but they sound cool. Maybe they could make it available on all platforms and just release it after that (i mean in a slightly user freindly way than downloading of the internet, people like me with their 56k modems really dont like downloads, as they takeing ages). Just because it doesnt have up to date graphics doesnt mean a game cant be good. I would love to try it out, and get immersed in story line.

Ps the thing about reading is true. There are some people who are actively claiming reading is sad. Just because they cant be arsed taking the time to turn a page and absorb a good story doesnt mean its -blam!-, their just plain lazy.

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

I am an avid supporter of a Marathon remake. I've read the entire storyline and loved it, but getting the game to work was a pain. When I finally did get it to work I remembered something: I suck at computer FPS controls.

So this is what I would like. A revamped version of the original that keeps, as Recon said, the terminal interface. They would just need to work on the graphics, easter eggs, and online aspects then. Keep the level design, basic controls (meaning no jumping), weapons, and alien types. It would also give Bungie, and it's fans, a chance to go back to its roots.

A few things they could add would be
1) A feature that keeps track of all the terminals that you have found and numbers them, so you would know if you missed any. It would add to the play time and give you the chance to read the kickass story all in one sitting.
2) They would have to throw in a few Halo references. Perhaps a well hidden Grunt?
3) Hire ForceMorph to make sure they don't stray from the original too far. Then again, we don't want to kill the Bungie staff off completely...
4) Some Halo multiplayer maps for online play, because that would just be cool.

That's my case.

Hey, mods, you should sticky this.

I would like to see marathon remade, but keeping the terminals, level design, characters, and controls the same.

Ok, so this is a bump. But this is practically the only on topic discussion in here...
Someone find ForceMorph!

Indeed, Marathon was a mighty game and it's sequels even better. Unfortunately, I doubt kids these days would understand the difference between the hero in marathon and Halo as to the naked eye they are both big cybernetic warriors blasting away aliens. It would however be excellent IMO for guys like us who grew up playing these games and maybe if Bungie gave it something unique that a younger fanbase could appreciate, it would be a big hit.

(Not meaning to sound patronising, just thinking about how to make it popular enough for them to consider making :) )

It would be a game that Bungie is releasing. What more would they need besides that? And if they had ever heard about Marathon before it would only help.

I DO NOT think that they should change anything to make it more "popular". That's why they should hire Forcemorph- they either keep it the same or disappear without a trace.
