I've tried elseware, but people are idiots.

I've been researching computers (I'm not that educated on them yet). I think I got something good running. I haven't ordered any of these yet,so i am open for ideas.

My motherboard is a
ASUS P5B Premium Vista Edition LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681313116 4R
It has Windows Vista Premium and supports the new Intel Duo and Extreme processors.

My processor is a
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681911500 3
my motherboard should support this.

What video card and memory should I get? I'm in a rut. I am not good at all, but I would like to save a lot of money on my new computer. My last resort is ordering at dell or HP or something.

Edit: made links.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

How much are you looking to spend on a video card and ram?

I definitely would not suggest SLI, very wasteful, and as such, only if you have extra money laying around.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

If you want to run games, then get Vista Home Premium or Ultimate. You can buy Home Premium here for $120.

Yeah, a 10 to 15% proformance boost, whoop de do, if you have a 8800 your eye can't even prosess the extra FPS on just one, let alone two.

SLI is wasteful unless you're going to play at a high res.

If you don't want to click the link, it shows both 8 series cards out performing all 7 series SLI setups in a benchmark on Oblivion.

I would not suggest running SLI with a powerful card. All you do is slow down your entire rig vastly. Use two cards only with low-midrange cards.

This a perfect example of what not to do with SLI

And up until the 8 series what was the fastest?

7900GTX (2). Each one is going to be ~$200. A single 8800GTS 640MB can be bought for $380 and is a lot less of a powerhog, cooler (as in temp), and doesn't require an SLI mobo.

Even 2 7900GSs in SLI would cost the same as an 8800GTS 320MB, and the 8800GTS would vastly out-perform the SLI setup in resolutions around 1280x1024.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

The real cool thing about SLI is the additional graphics memory. If your card can run high res, it will have more graphics memory to store the high quality textures. It's not really a waste of money, but it is cool to show off, and it's only for those who can afford it.

thanks, you guys are a lot more help. I put it in the Flood, and didn't get one response. I think the people there are special. Unlike us Mawgoers. GO MAW!

And anyway, thanks for the help.

All of you have done a great service, and I have some cool concepts. If anyone else has stuff to put feel free. I'm a basic retard with computers anyway.

Yeah, but you can't exactly tell the difference between 160 fps and 130fps

Ignore this, that is not how SLI works.

When did I recommend getting SLI?

But you can sure tell the difference between 11 fps and 20fps(oblivion at 1600x1200 with the 7900gtx)

I presumed you meant an SLI setup would not be a waste compared to an 8800. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

Ugh, stupid quotes, you get what I mean.
