Right now my RAM's timings are 2.5-3-3-8 @240MHz, unbuffered.

Now, in my BIOS, the FSB:DRAM is 1:1 with eachother, the CAS Lat. and RAS-CAS stuff is all well. But, will I get better performance from Halo if I shorten the timings down and the CMD Rate?

Oh btw, it's dual-channel OCZ RAM, 2x512MB config, DDR400.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

I doubt you would notice that big of a performance difference.

Well, you ought to, but it could make things unstable if you go too far and it may make speeds slightly worse depending on how exactly you change it.

But as Static just posted, the gain wouldn't be anything to write home about.

If you're not going to post constructive comments, don't post at all.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Dual Channel has never been good for anything related to gaming. I recommend you run your RAM in single channel mode. Like the others said, you won't see that much of a boost. Halo's not much of a system RAM hog.

Motherboard? Socket?

Technically you should be running 1T with only 2 slots filled. Not sure if your ram will be able to handle it at ddr480 though. Post your full specs including motherboard. Also post a screen shot of CPU-Z with the memory tab open. Use google if you don't know what CPU-Z is. Really need to know what platform you are running.

Why do you not recommend dual channel? I have never seen any problems related to running dual channel.

You clearly are running 1T CPC as shown in the SS. I would trust CPU-Z over what your BIOS is showing anyday. Also, Everest and Sandra report this stuff incorrectly, trust CPU-Z or A64 Tweaker.
Besides, on s939, you will always run 1T by default with only 2 sticks of ram. It is when you use more than 2 modules that you will run 2T. Just some advice, on A64 platform, you always want as much HTT as possible (which you call FSB). A64 or AM2 doesn't use a FSB, the cpu has an on die memory controller which communicates directly with memory and doesn't need a physical chipset, aka FSB. Go for as much HTT as possible and worry less about memory timings. BTW, the only A64 socket that runs 1T no matter how much memory is installed is s940.

I don't really see the point as to why 940 supports 1T over 2T all the time, considering they use Opteron CPU's; do they really need the extra latency?
