alright, first of Halo 2 is coming out for pc-period(end of story)
second, the question is when. The answer right now is pretty clear.
the first halo took more time because, they were porting the xbox version to pc, and so there was no netcode for online play. NOW That Halo 2 has a netcode alredy with it, bungie, or whoever doesnt need to make a netcode for Halo2 pc, the only thing that will slow down the process and have a 2 year wait is that whoever that makes Halo 2 pc, decides to make new maps and weapons for the pc version. If they dont want to that, then the port wont take longer then a year! AMEN! All they need to do is transport everything, verbatim, that was on xbox version, to a CD. and there you go, Halo 2 for pc, and a shytload of ppl are saved from slaving themselves to buy xbox and xbox live!

I rest my case
Amen
by the way, there is a good chance it will be out in about 8 months!!!!!!! (I proved this to you abovem so don't bullshyt me) In 8 months, it will be July, just in time for SUMMER!!!! NO SCHOOL!!!! KICK A.S.S

Well, if Halo 2 came out on PC along with its Xbox's brother, I wouldn't even have bought Half Life 2. But since there isn't anything other then Half Life 2, well Bungie lost their chance there.

WoW's coming out in a week...

WoW?! wow.

But anyway, more importantly to FPS players HL2 is out very soon.
I hope that guy is right about Halo2, and what he says makes sense. I mean they're bound to get the conversion right after the questionable success of their first try. I've got the xbo version and already it's letting me down, for example:

Audio is read from the DVD not the hard drive. Result? Longer load times, and people talking over each other or missing their cues. I get a few seconds of silence, then I get a statement and a counterstament at the same time, very annoying, and off-putting.

Bump maps/Normal maps don't load quick enough either. On several occasions I've seen the masterchief in a cutscene before he's been properly rendered, so I see a very low-textured MC for half a second then his details phase in. This applies to any character who has high detail, like human's wrinkly skin.

Come to think of it just about every cutscene and episode suffers from delays in rendering and poor initial framerates, I expect this is down to the xbox's pathetic 128 MB of ram, and the fact it insists on loading from disc. Now, if that was on PC with say 512 ram, combined with loading from HDD instead of DVD, I'm sure it'd be a different story. A decent screen resolution would be nice too.

Bring on Halo 2 PC!

o stfu, the point of this convo is pointless, and i don't see y anyone would post after me.

I think that we have all basically established that HALO 2 is coming out for PC, and it is gonna be a very long time, lets just leave it at that.

WHy would people buy a 600$+ console that surpasses the power of the average home computer? sorry, but no one would, and no one will. I seriously doubt it will be that powerful. 3.4 ghz, wth would you need that for? I can run Far Cry / doom 3 perfectly on a 128 MB ATI 9600 XT with 512 MB of ram and a 2 Ghz processor.

The obvious answer to the topic question is that Halo 2 PC will come out when month-to-month Halo 2 Xbox sales finally fall to a certain low point and stay flat for at least a couple months.

Don't forget that MS's goal isn't just to sell Halo 2. They want to maximize the amount of Xboxes and Live accounts sold to increase their user base.

Heyyo,

Yeah, it'll hit PC, but only after M$ has finished milking it out on that xbox... so we'll probably have to wait longer than HaloPC cause Halo2's even bigger...

Do you work for Bungie? How come you know it's never coming out? Are you from the future maybe?

Maybe you're just retarded, and in the wrong forum. Bye.

Exactly. Halo 1 was, for a short time, hailed to be an xbox exclusive. Baring in mind it's only been like a week or so since Halo 2's release, there's plenty of time for them to say "actually about that exclusive thing, it's out the window". In fact if they said that right now, they'd be early. Give it a couple of months when Halo 2's sales figures come down from their peak.

No way man, When Halo1 was out for x-box everyone said, "oh get us with our 'box look at the cool game we have, you PC bummers will never get it" The fact is Halo1 sold more PC copies than 'box copies , so do you think a company will purposefully turn down the chance of making beaucoup dollar? NO. They are gonna wait a while, add some maps, a vahicle and a weapon or two and have it in the shops for x-mas 2005 or sooner.

Also, if they are working on Halo 3 (which they probably are) they will have been working on it since before halo2 was released, at least in story board or simple design. It won't take much to transfer to H2 PC as the net code is already done.
basically it make marketing sense to release H2 for the PC, and if it makes business sense they will do it.

ummmmm...what's a "core CPU" and second, cite your sources here...last I heard, nothing has been confirmed for xbox 2 specs.

My source for the info on Halo sales figures was from a company called chart track, I was a bussiness student at the time and did an essay on piracy effecting the sales of computer games. I can't remember the exact figures but i know that Halo sold i great deal more copies for the PC than x-box.

As far as i know........
At the heart of a CPU is the core, consisits of a huge number of transistors which put simply are switches, by tunrning these 'switches' on or off the CPU makes calculations that enable us to do anything with any device with a coputer chip, be it and x-box, PC or microwave oven. Currently, Intel and AMD are trying to work out how to get a faster CPU, currently ALL CPU's have a single core (one set of transistors), the easiest way to make a faster CPU....... add a second core. 2 cores equals more raw processing power, It simply means that they increase the number of total culculations that can be performed in a given time. there is a WHOLE lot more to makeing a CPU, and i don't pretend to know it all, but that is the very basic of a core CPU.
Come June 2005 which is the official release date for the first dual core CPU it will be possible to get one from AMD.
So given that NO ONE has yet got a dual core CPU it is unlikely that M§ has already worked with a tri core CPU for the x-box 2.

Oh my source for the info on dual core CPU's comes from datafuse

Thanks Howser. I actually directed my inital comment to the PC_GAMER guy who was listing off the speculated xbox stats as reality.

In any event, I'm sure that after the dust cools from Halo 2's release we'll get an annoucement about a PC version one way or the other. It probably won't be for some time though, as I'm sure the Bungie guys need some much deserved sleep and time away from the office. Besides which, MS isn't about to cannibalize their xbox games sales by announcing a PC version...
