Compare Bungie.net to almost every other internet forum or video game website out there, and Bungie.net has one huge advantage: no annoying pop-ups and other ads. Since Bungie is nice enough to provide this website without ads (other than there store) we should give them a break. This place isn't perfect, but at least it isn't filled with ads like Gamespot.com, IGN.com, etc . . .

Wait wait wait....I see a "powered by Ideal Science" ad at the bottom....O.O

Not to mention that the website is an Ad unto its self.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Agreed. The only advertisements are tasteful, Bungie-affiliated, and tucked away, out of the way where it's not "in your face."

I do love that aspect of Bungie.net.

I like that there's no ads; sometimes they prevent you from truly enjoying a good site.

No ads is nice, but I wish there was something else about the site that could be your favorite other than no Ads; which is kind of sad; really. =/

Irony, so sweet in its unrefined form.

Those links sure seem like ads for that site. Especially the way that one instance would have done just fine.

Beautiful, isn't it?

You're definitely right nate. Compared to other sites, Bungie is a haven away from advertisements.

Anyone ever visited the Gamewinners.com forums?

That place is like a galactic pop-up hub.

It is extremely nice. No glaring, obnoxious pictures or rollover music. Of course, that's what you get when you make enough high quality video games that you're rolling in the dough.

Yeah.
It should be pointed as Bungie.net is a website run by a company, they don't NEED Ads in order to keep the site running.

True, but that doesn't stop any of the other bazillion websites run by companies from getting some extra cash from advertisers.

Generally, I don't see many company owned sites that have advertisements. Or maybe I just have the ability to tune advertisements out. I could be wrong though; but yeah, they could make extra cash, but they have the Halo Franchise, what more do you need?

i like having no adds, alot of times on other sights their are adds for things that are not appropriate....... and it gets annoying. not to mention the adds that say

OMG you are the 999999 user, click here for free prize

its nice not having to see those

  • 03.16.2007 3:14 PM PDT

I agree. This is one of the many things I love about this site.

Advertising and commercials can go two ways, the annoying advertisments that are all over other websites and then their are people who advertise outside of classifieds, or alot of users who put links to their groups in their sig. But i do like the fact that bungie doesnt have commercial adds everywhere.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's clearly a dolphin.

That's about all I have to say about this matter.

The 'Powered by Ideal Science' thing is probably just part of the conditions of B.net being powered by Ideal Science. Otherwise, no-one would ever know.

But knowing is half the battle! Go Joe! Yeah, the ideal Science thing is really not even very noticeable, I actually had to make sure I looked for it to even talk about it here. If they really didn't want anyone to see it, they should have linked it to the "preview" button because I'm pretty sure few have ever used that. Evidence? all the (Edited on 3.14.07) stuff.

But I agree, not having pop-ups is definitely a nice thing.
