This is a tribute thread to the now dead Halo1. This is a thread for a number of things. It discusses:
1. Our best moments in halo
2. Our worst moments in halo
3.Our favorite/least favorite charactor in halo
4. Our opinions of the story plot
5. Our first thoughts about the flood.
6. How you felt about the end of the game, and finaly
7. What we wish we could have changed about the game

1. My favorite moments in halo include the assault on the control room, where you could sneak behind elites and kill them along with the sleeping grunts, and vehicle multiplayer. Shame we couldnt use banshees though.

2. My worst moments were when i was stuck in the game(escaping 343 gs) and the finding of the flood, as i explain later.

3. favorite charactor is by no question the loveable grunts. them and the master cheif of course.
worst is the flood as i say below.

4. Ok but lets face it. how many games are there where you are the LONE hero batteling againsnt insane odds and repatedly surviving? Ok but could be better. But the flood was a nice twist

5. The flood gave me niht mares. they were tooo scarey and i stopped playing till i gathered the strengh to beat them and the game.

6. The end of the game sparked off millions of rumors, but too me it was just too quick. shame we couldnt see his face under the helmet(mabe another helmet) but ok.

7. What i could change is the fact that banshees were unusable in mp. Also, i would liked to have used the plasma sword and the fuel rod cannon.

So what do you guys think about the best game besides Halo2?

People at GameFAQs.com are -blam!-ing and moaning that Halo 2 was all hype, and when they got their copies, they felt they wasted their money. The missing Health meter (the Shield takes more damage and refills at twice the speed as in Halo 1? Bullf***, on Easy mode, I got mobbed by 3 Brutes flying in the air firing at me, and my shield was down to critical level in 2 seconds, THANKFULLY cover was nearby and the Brutes were too stupid to ollow me), the highly powered-down Shotgun (for some reason in Halo 2 it takes 3 shot gun blasts to kill a Grunt. On EASY mode. The damn SMG recoil sucks majorly, and Master Chief seems to move at half the walking speed he walked in Halo 1. The Needler was turned into a noob weapon of choice besides, next the Plasma sword, with it's increased speed and slight boost in power, and it doesn't really help when your opponent can Dual-Wield two Needlers and shred you up in seconds with them. And how can Master Chief walk off a high ledge and NOT get damaged anymore? And how come he can survive a grenade blast now?

Halo 2 is very watered down and relatively decent weapons from Halo 1 are now butchered severely. Multi-player isn't fun anymore. I think a lot of people are going to stick with Halo 1 for a while until they can cope with a moderately decent sequel to a highly great FPS.

Coop is already an option in Halo

1. My best favorite part of the game was blowing the crap outta the flood in The Library, or Assault on the Control Room. That was a cool level because you had to be sneaky (^_^)

2. My least favorite part of Halo was beating the game... it was a dissapointment... :(

3. My favorite characters were definitley the Grunts. They were hilarious... especially when you stuck them on the head with a plasma grenade. :)

4. I thought that the plot of the game was generic, but I liked the twist of the flood, and the fact that you had to turn around and go back to the Pillar of Autumn to beat the game. That was cool.

5. I thought that the introduction to the Flood through the video recording was especially cool... that was awesome... The one thing I didn't like about the flood were, they were too scary in the video, and in actual gameplay, they were not very frightening at all.

6. I thought that the ending cutscene of Halo was cool, but they could have made the game longer, because if you beat it once, you can beat it easily in just a few hours. I liked how the end cuscene left you in suspense... that was cool, but there was one flaw in the end cutscene... When Halo blows up, a portion of it is spiralling in space towards master chief, and then crashes into a different section of halo... when it crashes into this section, it skips through the halo, and there is an impact explosion AFTER the spiralling portion already broke through the remainder of Halo...

7. If I could change the game, I would try to make it runs smoother, and take out all glitches... I would really change the multiplayer, because it was fun as it is, but I would make it XBox live compatible...

Thats my 2 cents on the game... :)

Back in my day we didn't have no fancy lasers, and the hogs were indestructible!

Yes but I found that boring with the first one, even on legendary it was easy (I usually end up just using the AR for a challenge). Now the story fits with the game, the fact that humans are far inferior to covenant, plus isn't the master chief meant to be only just equal to the elites.

I reckon Halo 2 fits perfectly with the overall storyline and plays better than most games curretly out. The only problem was people wanted to much from it, and it just couldn't give anymore than what it has.

Yeah. i guess youre right.
But now i have halo2 (got to the first cove level first time i played!), i wont be playing as much as i used to.
And i still think that the flood were too scary. If only they didnt have that music (devils...monsters...(on the halo s t)) it would have been less scarey.

Meh... they weren't that scary... but if you were playing for your first time and encountered the Flood, during the night time, I guess I see where you're coming from. :)

You won't be busy finishing Halo2 for long. Halo1 will continue be played at length for quite some time. In my mind it's STILL the best FPS out there. Halo2 might be better for multiplayer (I wouldn't know, can't get Xbox Live), but for pure, epic single player or co-op, it's Halo1 nearly every time for me.

ok, I don't normally get mad, but this is unbelievible. If your a decent shot, you can kill three grunts with one shot from the shotgun. you didn't always die when you got naded in halo 1, SMG recoil is easy to work past, I can fully auto and hit all of my targets, if you are good enough, you shouldn't get hit and find cover when your sheild is down, so that excuses the health bar. The needler is supposed to be powerful, and was in halo 1 too. The energy sword is easy to beat, jut shoot. The drop thing is a mystery, and brutes don't fly, ELITES have the jetpacks in space.

1. My best moment was owning all in Legendary.
2. My worst moment was dieing on easy difficulty the first time I played.
3. My favorite characters are the grunts. My least favorite was the S.O.B 343 Guilty Spark.
4. I liked the story plot. Although it was short, it was still good.
5. I hate the flood.
6. I felt hungry at the end of the game.
7. I wished there could have been more playable characters in multi which (thankfully) they did add in H2.

Hah Halo1 dead? Nah, its very much alive

id rather play a 16 person match of halo1 than halo2, Halo2 is more like unreal tournement than halo, its a run and gun game now, not strategy and planning like halo1 was. or w/e halo1 was...

best moment: when i first beat a hunter
worst moment: when i turned around to see his brother behind me, only to be decimated by him.

halo is a great game i dont really think it will ever die, classics rarely do, look at pacman, people still love it.

i think bungie has a problem with endings. At least Halo 1's ending didn't leave you with so many questions. you go to halo, blow up the ring, and leave. got it?

Halo will never die. I've played the Maw over 40 times and it still is just as fun as the first time. For some reason Halo has never seemed to lose its appeal, I guess that is what seperates it from all the other FPS.

My best moment in Halo was when I first encountered the grunts. After shooting one, another began to run and started yelling. The way he ran and his squeaky little voice kept me laughing for about an hour afterward.

My worst moment in Halo was when first tried to play The Library an legendary, I lasted about 30 sec.
