Heyyo,

*Sighs* right now, all that's known is it's not planned as their official FAQ says, and that by common knolege it'll be a while until it hits PC so M$ (and bungie too since they're part of this ordeal too) can milk it on xbox, cause now I know like, 4 people saying, "Oh I wish I had an xbox to play Halo2..." and "I hope I get an xbox and Halo2 for christmas..." sheesh, I myself wanna play it badly, but I'm not willing to go out n' buy a whole new system just to buy 2 games (Halo1&2). Call me old fashioned, but I'll just play the waiting game reminiscing of the good ol' days when the game industry wasn't so cutthroat...

There's also rumors of a Halo2PC Beta out there, but I'm guessing they just mean the leak of Halo2.

Hey there,
Yea Mard is right, there are so many answers to that question, I think that It will eventually come out for pc, but when, in a year, hopfully not 2, cuz then that would suck, but anyways, all that we can do now is just wait patiently for it to come out on pc. If your a true pc veteran like me, then you will be patient and just wait for it. Becasue seriously im not gonna pay like 300 extra dollars just to buy and xbox, then halo2, then get xbox live. Its just a waste of money when I JUST finished building my computer this last summer, to play halo pc. Its just a waste of money.

Just hope for the best, and hope that I comes soon (by soon I mean in about a year, no then a year longer).

LONG LIVE THE PC VETERANS!!!!!

amen

I assume that Halo 2 will eventually be released on the PC just as Halo 1 was. However, Halo 2 being XBOX exclusive is HUGE for Microsoft. They are going to keep it exclusive as long as they think it will convince people to get the console.
My GUESS is that you won't see Halo 2 for the PC until AFTER XBOX 2 is released for Christmas 2005 (or perhaps around the same time at the earliest.) Until then, they are going to promote Halo 2 as being the killer app for XBOX.
When XBOX 2 is released, the focus may turn to get the new console sold and they may decide to finally release a PC port.
I almos garuntee they will release a PC port, though. The reason... Money. There millions to be made in the PC and Mac market, especially if it remains successful on XBOX.

For me, Halo PC was a big deal because I wanted to play online 16 player games. I loved it on XBOX but I had to get a LAN party together to play multi player. I'm ecstatic that Halo 2 is finally out and supports XBOX Live.

My suggestion is to break down and get an XBOX ($150) and get on XBOX Live. I think you'll find you play it so much you'll get your money's worth out of it. I don't know how you can wait for the PC port to come out.

After all, an XBOX is cheaper than that new video card you'll have to buy for your PC just to support Halo 2. WHen Halo 1 came out for the PC I spent $1000 building a new compuer because my old one was just too underpowered. The XBOX is a bargain by way of comparison.

XBOX is $150, includes 2 controllers and 2 months of XBOX Live.
Plus $30 for a headset -OR- $70 for XBOX Live 1 year subscription with Headset
Total cost: $150+$70 = $220 including 14 months (2 free + 12 month) of XBOX Live, headset, console, and 2 controllers.
The game is $50, and you'd pay the same for it on the PC, so it doesn't count.

Now compare that to a new video card for your PC which cost... $200-$500 (depending how hardcore you are.)

So no, it's not $300, plus plus plus. And yes, I also spent $1000 on a new PC just to play Halo PC online.

Even the Xbox is cheap, there is no Keyboard and mouse support at all and alot of people would not and probably will never adjust to using a controller. Sure you can take up the "silly" position of telling people "go use the controller," however, their responds for you will be to sit on the toilet backwards. (sorry if that offensive, but thats what they'll say to you) That is probably one of the main reason why they don't want to play it on the Xbox.

Alot of people waited for Halo 1 to come out to PC since 1999. This is how PC games are made with delays announced like a week before the release day or etc. Just look at Duke Nukem Forever, people are waiting for that and the game was even created like about 1998.

True that the Xbox is like $220 as you said, but for most, thats $220 for one game only if they are not interested in buying another game on the Xbox then that is simply a waste of money. So if they're shelling out $220 for one game, that is just a complete waste. The Video card that is $300 to $500 dollars is for every single game that comes out on PC. Also after buying a powerful PC, there is no logic in shelling another $220 for one game. Sure there are many wonderful titles on the Xbox, but if it doesn't interest them, then one game for a $220 console is simply a waste of money.

You should have bought your computer parts at Fry's Electronics. They got those cool Motherboard CPU combo, 60 dollars for a 120 gig harddrive, or a 512 DDR 2700 ram for 60 dollars.

Why would they need to buy an Xbox to play just Halo 2? They already paid like maybe about $2000 or less for a computer, then spend another $220 as you put it there for an Xbox? That makes it $2220. Sure the Xbox is cheap, that is if you don't have any computer, then again if you don't have a computer, you can't post any message on this forum. If you have crappy computer, its still $1000.

You're missing the fact that people have PC that are well build for games so you're suggesting they go out and spend $220 dollars for a console system for just one game? That sure is a complete waste of money when you compare it to a video card that cost about 300 or 500 dollars but it can play ANY games at 1600x1200, from there, it sounds alot more reasonable then 220 for "one" game. Of course this my 2 cent post.

You must consider the fact that xbox 2 is being presented by Bill Gates on January 5, next year. So you might not want to get that xbox, wait for the xbox 2. Also, Microsoft is also developing a "xbox next", that will play xbox and PC games. w00t! However, this system will cost a fair $700.

xbox 2 specs

CPU: 3 Cores, all running @ 3.5GHz

RAM: 256MB RAM, (will be 512MB, depending on PS3 specs)

Video: the ATI R400, will be nearly as good as the x800 (R420)

and theres other info on Harddrives and other info, available through me. Just ask, and I tell.

I just wish people would stop -blam!-ing about "When does halo 2 come out for pc." The thought is on every single halo pc users mind. So just shut up, let bungie get enough money from the xbox version, and then it will come out. We know it will so just be quiet and patient.

Fact? Strange, because the official estimate is that Xbox 2 is coming out at the same time as Windows Longhorn, and DirectX 10, and possibly XNA. The reason for this is that M$ want to make a big impact on both the PC and console market at the same time, and also that they want certain aspects of Windows LH and Xbox 2 to be compatable, like the USB controllers for one thing. It is the official statement that all this is going to happen at the same time(ish) in 2006. So what makes you think all this is ready to happen a year early? Do you not think it's a bit strange that with only 2 months until your quoted date, we've seen and heard nothing of any Xbox pictures, Windows LH features, betas, and all that stuff which happens at least 6 months before something as major as all that software and hardware? MAYBE Bill might say something about xbox 2 in January 2005, like "This is what we aim to give you in a year's time". Not "go pre-order this now".

And another thing, you mentioned that xbox next thing would cost $700. Do you seriously think the xbox 2 console with a 3.5GHz cpu, 512MB of ram and an x800 would cost less than $700? Just the graphics card alone would cost that much, and that's not even including whatever storage device it's going to use, plus controllers, plus optical drive, patents, copyrights, parts, labour, software, and a huge profit margin, that console would likely cost nearly $1,000. A lot of people in this thread have already said that building your own PC, all examples about the same or less high-spec than the xbox 2, cost about $1,500. And that's building it yourself, which is the cheap way. So no way in hell could M$ offer that kind of spec for xbox2 and still make it an affordable console.

Heyyo,

They're making 3 versions of the xbox go to http://www.megagames.com to read up onnit.

As for no mouse/keyboard support? there is, but it's a 3rd party adapter. Look around for it, it's pretty cool, but many xbox users are -blam!-ing aboot it cause it's "cheating." Well, autoaim for a FPS is massive cheating, but you don't hear them complaining aboot that do ya eh? ;)

Mobo= $180
RAM= $400 for 2MB of the good Corsair Dual channel DDR Low Latency
HDD= $300 for 2 WD Raptor 1000RPM
Video= $250 ATI Radeon Pro 9800
CPU= (I forgot) but it's a Intel 3.2Ghz 800FSB
Case&PS= $150
All top of the line -blam!-, no compromises... except the video card because the top of the line card was over twice the price and the 9800 Pro is perfectly fast.

I'm a PC gamer, don't get me wrong. Halo PC and CE is a far better experience than on the XBOX (although a different experience that I still enjoy the XBOX for on ocassion.) Especially at 1280x1024 res and the precision of using a mouse. I'm just playing devil's advocate here and pointing out that if you really want Halo 2, it's not all that big of a deal or a big expense to get an XBOX, which really is an ecellent machine.

In the end I'm relegated to more XBOX gaming because I started to develop capal tunnel syndrome (from bad habits at work) which holding the E button to run forward and the mouse button aggrivate.
The XBOX controller is low impact and much much more ergonomic and I can play 30 hours of XBOX if I wanted to without ever having an issue with my hands.
Of course that's just me.
Thank god I've managed to revers the CTS and should be ship shape to play Half Life 2 now that it's out! WHOO HOO TO THAT!!

Heyyo,

Lol, Renegade? you have NOTHING to worry aboot, mine's an AMD Athlon XP 1900+, and your's is probably a P4 2.5GHz I take it, so your's is stonger. If I can run Doom3, Far Cry, and Tribes: Vengeance, and a couple other new titles? I'm sure you'd be able to play them with even more ease, and higher resolutions. ;)

what you need to worry aboot is your videocard, what you got dude? mine's a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 PRO, good card, worth the cash. So if you got something along the lines of preformance as this card? you'll be able to game like crazy man. :)

Now compare that to a new video card for your PC which cost... $200-$500 (depending how hardcore you are.)

My video card is a 9600 xt which I spent 140 bucks over....it kicks a.s.s

but still im not spending money over all that xbox equipment

>Mobo and Cpu- Mach Speed n2pap lite w/ Athlon xp +2400= $140
>Video- ATi Radeon 9600 xt with 128 mb= $145
>Ram- Ultra 512 mb DDR 400(pc 3200)- $80
>Sound Card- Sound Blaster Audigy= $40 saved $10 : )
>Hard Drive- Hitachi 160 gg 7200 rpm= $80 kick a.s.s deal
>Raidmax Scorpio series case- $40 from www.newegg.com.....awsome case
>Logitech Z-5300 series 5.1 surround speakers- $100 refurbished! Its awsome! make sure you have a good sound card for these speakers

soo I spent about mid 500 bucks......and it is kicking major A.S.S!!!

F.U.C.K Xbox when you have a computer that is so many times better

Lol, so many people with kickazz PC's... it's a joke that they (the industry) still insist on calling the PS2, GC and XB 'next generation' consoles. More like last generation.

Anyways, on the bright side we have Half Life 2. Speaking from the perspective of someone who has played Halo 2 to completion (5 days... and that's not solid play, that's like a few hours a day... sure it's action-packed but it's short, and it lacks an ending. Halo 1 is better) and played what I assume is the majotity of Half Life 2 (I've been playing it for twice as long as I played Halo 2 for, and it's starting to get a fair bit harder now so I assume I'm nearing the end, although judging by certain screenshots, there's plenty of significant scenes I've yet to see) I think we've got the better deal. I'd rather have HL2 now, and CS:Source don't forget, and wait for Halo 2, then to have the disappointingly short Halo 2 and have to wait ages to get Half Life 2.

More to the point, I prefer Halo to Halo 2, seriously, graphics and little novelties like dual weilding just doesn't match the originals' greatness. I'll admit that might change After we get it on PC, with multiplayer, but at the moment that's how my decision stands.

1) HL2
2) Halo Multiplayer (PC)
3) Halo 2

If you are assuming people will go for other games besides Halo 2 or Halo 1 on the Xbox then you are completely wrong. Its Boo-hoo for them but that is very true. I have seen some of my friends and read on forums that their xbox are either in storage or have never been turned on ever again. As for the computer, its probably going to be used countless times let alone one of its use is for you to post message here.

That part where you pointing out "its not a big deal" when buying an Xbox for 200 dollars is just the same as a guy who buys a $300 Denon DVD player just to play one movie. Some people are tight consumers, if the Xbox is like 15 dollars, I would get it for Halo 2 right away. Unfortunately, you have to realize that $200 dollars is alot of money for some people to burn for one game.

I have no problem with the keyboard and mouse at all. I like to spread my hands and arms out and it helps relax the muscles more.

Well thats cool you can play with the Xbox controller. However, every human's hand is somewhat design so unique it is different from each other, so the controller can be a pain in the ass for some people. The Xbox controller confides my chest and hands all in one place which is not very comfortable at all. Thats why I have this 2 pad controller for my Xbox when I play dead or alive, soul calibur 2, or other non FPS Games on my Xbox.
